Newest Addition: The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground

TVU is sort of an old 'new' discovery; had already listened to (most of) their first three albums well before and despite enjoying many songs, as a group they never struck me deeply which, having gotten back into them on a whim, seems inexplicable.... Anyway, I would've been tempted to include White Light/White Heat as well, if it weren't for my ambivalence toward 'The Gift.' Unfortunate because I love, love, love 'Sister Ray.'

Still, TVU&N is a fantastic debut and representation of their range. It's full of exotic sounds which, imo, generally avoid late sixties psychedelia for a mixture of hard rock, blues and avant-garde which sounds, especially in it's mix, rough and sophisticated. My favorites so far would probably be 'Femme Fatale, 'Venus in Furs,' 'All Tomorrow's Parties,' 'Heroin' and possibly 'European Son' but the song-list works very well among one another. Nico's singing also complements the group very well, almost surprisingly so given she was basically forced onto the band. :lol:

Very happy to finally own one of their albums.
