RDR showed the real emotion Rockstar is capable of. My goodness that game was so flippin' great. Garry's Raticate in Pokemon? Pff, screw that guy. I don't know what his problem is, but he probably deserved it. My subjective most depressing death was Tali in ME3. I had liked her since 2 and romanced her in the third game. On her homeworld, she saw the destruction of the Migrant Fleet and flung herself off a cliff. Worse yet, it was a quicktime event I didn't see coming, and I couldn't save her. I've got to try again someday.
Spoiler Raquel from Wild ARMs 4. She's the last to join your four-person party, as well as the strongest and oldest, but barely. She's just 19. After going through the game, enduring countless obstacles and being tested, all the while discovering the truth and battling the opposition, you finally do the whole TEAMWORK UNITE FINAL BATTLE... everyone reflects, then the credits start to roll and the epilogue is revealed... In the beginning, it is vaguely hinted at, but as the game goes on, it becomes more and more apparent something is wrong with Raquel. You learn, aside from being a mercenary for hire, she is traveling the world to observe and capture it's beauty. At first this seems to be a quirk but you realize, eventually, she is doing this because she is dying and, before she passes away, wants to give life one last go. Anyway, you find out in the epilogue, despite marrying and having children, Raquel still dies as the cure for her ailment was never found, even though the game sort of tells you, after beating the final boss, hey, we did it, we're all going to be okay and live happily ever after. Nope~! I didn't cry about this, but to see such a wonderful individual, so young and just starting to accept herself, die at her peak, is tragic. I suspect the only reason it didn't have more of an impact is, was the delivery of this news. To actually see it, that may have done it.
I loved The last Of Us but I didn't get emotional a single time during it...strange cuz everyone kept saying how emotional it was.
From Mother 3: Spoiler Hinawa. Just... Hinawa... the death wasn't even as depressing so much as the aftermath. From Dust: An Elysian Tail: Spoiler Dust. ;-;
It was no Bridge to Terabithia (after that movie I was so not okay XD), but compared to your average video game, the humanity of it was much more genuine. I didn't cry but was definitely affected by it.
Most depressing death for me was when Lisa Trevor died due to her backstory. Also Sara from the Last of Us.
Final Fantasy VII - Aerith Ace Combat ZERO: The Belkan War - PJ Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War - Death of Chopper. In mission 17. Persona 4 Spoiler If you failed to make the right choices and Nanako dies. Not gonna lie, that one hit me hard. Xenosaga Episode 2. Albedo dies pretty much twice. The game itself gets pretty depressing Xenosaga Episode 3 - Deaths of Albedo (for a third time), and Jin Uzuki. Modern Warfare 2 - When Roach (you) get's killed in the story. Modern Warfare 3 - Soap Dying Light - The Deaths of two of your friends. Red Dead Redemption - John Marston I am on the fence with Faize from Star Ocean: The Last Hope.
Kaiser, I completely agree. However: Spoiler In Wild Arms 5 the main character runs into Raquel and Arnaud in a cafe and goes on a side quest to get her the remedy so they can have a second chance at their happy ending
Oh my fucking god.. Norah from Beyond: Two Souls. I don't want to spoil it but she is someone extremely important to Jodie Holmes (Ellen Page) In the game. I finished the game in like 2 days no joke by the way.. :eusa_danc It was a really good game! Lee in The Walking Dead.. Omfg I cried so much! Sarah in The Last Of Us. So goddamn sad!
Really? Huh, that's interesting. I had been meaning to try out Wild ARMs 5, but never got around to it.
But she comes back if you watch the final episode of .hack//SIGN and finish the final quests of .hack//Quarantine. And if we are doing player character deaths then... Alkaid from .hack//G.U. Vol. 2. I almost cried when she became a Lost One. She comes back... of course... but damn! The scene just tore me apart. :tears:
