I'm somewhat in the same boat. I'm Jewish and fairly observant. However, as much as I follow the rituals and customs, I'm not particularly spiritual. My connection to Judaism is far more ethno-cultural. It's why I'm vehemently against anyone trying to proselytize me or trying to create laws based on one religion's beliefs. And I honestly think that the reason I'm so pro-LGBT rights is that the same people trying to deny these rights are the same people who would condemn me to hell for being Jewish.
I can sorta empathize with you. Except that I'm not religious, as I abhor what I perceive as always-fallible human tradition. "Extremely spiritual" is a better term to describe my situation. I also love Christ's teachings on love, yet I always feel conflicted because 1) his entire claim of authority is rooted in Old Testament prophecy, and 2) he claims to be fulfilling the Law, not abolishing it. These considered, it wouldn't make too much sense to diminish the importance of the Law -- thus I have adopted non-mainstream interpretations, and agreed with the early church that many of the laws merely served to differentiate Jews from Gentiles. Yet here we have another problem, in that the early church upheld the belief that not all of the Law applies to Gentiles and Christians. The problem born here is whether or not we can trust the early church (the non-Gospel books), as doing so would grant authority to the Eastern and Western churches, which both are evidently very corrupt and not Godly. So the main problem for me at the core is trust. I cannot solely trust the law, as it conflicts with my very being; I cannot trust Christ, for he is built on the law; and I cannot trust the church, for it is built upon both. For me to justify my faith, which I very much want to do since the figure of Christ is one of the few I would be willing to worship, I must reconcile the Law, in some way. Yet I do not -- in all honesty -- trust the interpretations of anyone, myself included, and so I remain in horrible stagnation. :/
I believe in God, but I dont believe in religion. Its kinda weird because I'm a confirmed Catholic and have a God daughter, but I'm more spiritual, but I do have faith in God.
No, I am an Atheist. I find it very strange when a gay or black person is religious. Black people must have short term memory and I've found gay people tend to say "god doesn't hate gay people", which furthers my findings that "god" is just you, god is whatever you are because god likes the same things you like and dislikes the same things you dislike.
I am a muslim and very religious and It's not wrong to be gay as long as u are not doing anything wrong like gay sex , gay marriage .
Finally someone who is gay muslim here u have good points The aggressive attitudes because most of muslims don't understand the true islam , I really have many problems with them here in syria  ---------- Post added 7th Dec 2013 at 03:25 PM ---------- I am talking from the view of islam u have the right to choose whatever u want !!!
I never did? Black people are christian because their slave owners made them be. They certainly didn't do it by choice. (Neither did the pagans)
So sex is the only way to achieve happiness? You think every person who celibates is miserable? XD ---------- Post added 7th Dec 2013 at 06:18 AM ---------- Salaam, Thanks. I don't mean all Muslims are aggressive. I need to be careful with my wording. I just mean Muslims that are judgemental and stuff. Nice to meet you too.
That is such a stupid and offensive statement to blacks and gays who are Christians. it'd not true. I can't even respond to such stupidity.
I think older people spend so much time in prayer that they think it might not be healthy for anyone else that doesn't seem to require 24/7 prayer to have something good to become of the times...:***: If you read the ten commandments, there are many things in life that are prohibited. It also teaches celibacy to the heavens but you won't understand until your much older. The best prayer for you right now, "May you be lead safely and that you are being you!"
