I have been told that I have a quality that gives me away. Everyone that I have came out to always suspected it. I have asked everyone what gives me away and they always use the phrase "You have a gay quality". What does that mean?

    Here are some responses:

    1. my grandmother in her 80s

me: I have something that I've been meaning to tell you for a long time.
    her: Go on.
    me: I'm gay.
    her: .......
me: Are you surprised or upset?
her: No, I'm shocked. I'm shocked that it took you sooo long. Its about time! I wasn't sure if you were ever going to come out.

    2. two random coworkers 1,2

We were having a random conversation and the subject came up.

    me: Well, I am gay.
    both: We know.
    me: What? How?
1: You have a way or quality about you that gives it away.
2: Pretty much everyone here already thought that you were.
me: So how do all of you feel about this?
1: Now we can talk about hot guys together.
2: What do you think about my outfit?

This is how everyone responds for the most part.

I must say that reading this thread was anything but "quick," but I finally finished it!

This thread is hilarious and amazing, so thanks everyone for sharing! It makes the idea of coming out seem a lot less stressful, and I really look forward to having some stories of my own :icon_bigg

I came out to a bunch of drunk college students on a bus:

I was taking the bus with a friend, and there were drunk college students on it because it was St. Patricks day. They were being really annoying, but anyway they were asking me and my friend questions like "are you 2 dating" etc etc. for literally 10 minutes non-stop and finally I had enough and I came out to them as gay. ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERYTHING CHANGED. The drunk college girls were asking me whether I find any of the guys on the bus hot, and one of them showed me a picture of a guy she's friends with and asked if I wanted to be hooked up with him (?!?! I'm 16 ?!?!?!? the guy was really cute tbh, she said he wants to be a model, but he looked like he was like 25 :S LOL). And finally, one of the drunk guys asked me whether I want to give him a BJ or not which was awkward but hilarious because I'm 99.9% sure he was gay and all his friends were like wtf and he was covering it up saying that "it was a joke" and "no homo". (I wasn't offended by anything they were saying btw cause they were wasted, and also I don't think they meant to come off as offensive or anything).

Very uncomfortable bus ride, but it was funny me and my friend were laughing so hard after we got off the bus. By the way the BJ guy apologized to me and said that he hopes I didn't feel uncomfortable (I definitely did LOL) and he meant it to be a joke.

So, I finally came out to one of my friends about not exactly being a guy today. I probably could have been a little clearer about me being genderqueer, but, her response was "So, are you looking at changing your name sometime soon?"

I was talking with a girl (best girl friend) over Skype. I happen to know the 22 first decimals of pi by heart (yeah... that's me) and she said I could flirt with a girl with that amazingly cool skill (*sarcasm*).

To that I responded "yeah..." (like I wasn't convinced) and she instantly suggested "or a boy!" to which I responded "better".

It was amazing how she immediately guessed it! I know it's not exactly funny but I thought I'd share it anyway.

"People will want to kill you."

That was the first thing my dad said to me before the many questions and other comments.

my friend tells me she thinks she's bisexual
Me: I think I might be too.
    Her:Like what percent?
    Me:Like 60% gay
    Her: or like 80% gay

we continued "haggling" in this manner until she got me to say I was 100% gay. Turns out she was right.

When I was younger.. and my little "sister" was still around.. I told her that I like other boys like the girls in her book like boys. (she was super young and didnt quite understand) and she goes. "Oh... So ... Wessie (she called me that instead of jessie cx) .. Youre a pwincess too?! Like this one *points at the princess in her cinderella book* You dont look like a pwincess.." then she gave me a weird look. xD Gosh I miss her.

Ive been out to my mom for just over a year and a half but I think this still fits here.

I went to see my psychiatrist and my mom came with me. Right before I went back to see him my mom did this

Mom: Dont forget to be straight with him. (as in straight forward)
Me: (turns around and gives her a "Really mom?" look)
Mom: Oh shut up you knew what I meant.

This is why I love my mom.

I came out to my (Roman Catholic) confessor a few weeks ago. His first response was, "I don't blame you. Women really ARE the fairer of the sexes!" He did go on to remind me of RC church teachings briefly, which I fully expected, but he still recognized my inherent worth as a human being and has not treated me any differently since then.

I had a couple of hilarious responses:

The third person I came out to was one of my best friends. I invited her over to my apartment for dinner, with the intention of telling her. The whole way through dinner I couldn't work up the courage. She had brought cheesecake for dessert. She put the cheesecake on the plates and brought them to the table, at which point I looked at her and said 'there's something I need to tell you'. She looked at me with disdain. 'Is it that you don't like cheesecake?' I told her that yes, in a way she was right. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

When I told my parents, I again told them there was something I had to tell them. 'Oh, so that's why you've been pacing around,' my mother noted. 'Is it about the bills?' I owed money for bills at the time and was waiting on them to give me money for it (as I'm a college student) and they had no money, so it was a bit awkward. I told them that no, it wasn't quite.

I'm aware neither of these are actually reactions to coming out, but both were hilarious and I'll always remember them.

Stupidly I got a friend to tell one of my other friends. He just laughed and walked away. It took me ages to convince him that I was gay and we ended up getting on detention for talking in class...
