It's something I'd certainly like to try (both top and bottom), but need to find the confidence and someone understanding to help me the first time, and teach me!

 

I have yet to either. My ex fingered me a few times and it was great. He was not into anal at all. I want to bottom but I will surely be versatile.

 

I find anal sex incredibly intimate and pleasurable (both ways). But I didn’t do ‘it’ until I was twenty-six. I waited until I was with someone who I really cared about. Through my teens and early twenties I carried around all the baggage about my ‘first time’ having to be something overwhelmingly special and intimate. But now I regret having waited so long.

When I finally did loose my virginity, it did feel like an important rite of passage (no pun intended). Feeling able and ready to share that level of intimacy with another guy meant that, emotionally, it was an important step towards my gaining a positive self-image as a gay man. Just one step, for sure, but an important one for me.

And that’s why I regret having placed so big a price on my virginity. It meant that it took far too long to gain that positive self-image I so needed.

So I do think we place too much emphasis on our first time sexual experiences. Sharing physical and sexual intimacy was, for me, an important rite of passage. By delaying that rite until my mid-twenties, I delayed my journey towards being at one with myself as a gay man by at least a decade.
