I finished "Don't Know A Lot About American History" a week ago for school.
I'm currently reading Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow

I'm a history buff, if you couldn't tell

The last book I finished reading was Goncalo M. Tavares' Joseph Walser's Machine, which is the second novel in the author's 'Kingdom Series'.

The graphic novel version of In Odd We Trust. Interesting concept, clumsily handled. I think I'll read the actual novel and then decide.

Just finished "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore. Not my thing. And also, "Your Face in Mine" by Jess Row. Dumbest book I've read in a long time. And I read shit like Antioch and Maradonia for fun.

I donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center and they sent me a book. "A lawyer Journey: The Morris Dees story" Highly recommended.

    Fat City by Leonard Gardner.

Set in the town of Stockton, California, the novel depicts the lives of an ex-boxer (Billy Tully) trying to make a comeback and that of a new recruit (Ernie Munger) who is looking for success and the good life. The story follows their dreams, hopes and their losses in professional fights, and relationships. Overall, I enjoyed reading the novel, and following the twists and turns in the characters' lives.

How was that? I've heard of Sacks' work here-and-there, but interested to read it.

I finished Catcher in the Rye for a class, but it's been so long since I've read something on my own that I don't remember anymore.

Just restarted reading No Passengers Beyond This Point by Gennifer Choldenko. It's kind of weird and creepy, and not like her other books (which are realistic).

Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua, maybe u guys know what it's all about, it's an extreme example of typical Asian Mom stereotype raising her kids. Overall it was a light read and gave me sort of a nice feeling in the end. Makes me think a bit to how will I grow my kid in the future (who knows and I'll be the tiger mom )

I'm reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami now...

The last book I read was the third book in C.S. Lewis' space trilogy. I hated it. The first one was good, the second one wasn't too bad, but the third one,.
The social commentary was the biggest problem. The main characters were a straight couple. The woman started out as this decently feminist character who at the end was brainwashed into being a housewife to the husband she hated. As for the man, I disliked him for personal reasons. The main character from the previous books showed up intermittently and spouted misogyny, gender essentialism, and rape apologism; he was the brainwasher-in-chief. There was also an abusive lesbian character on the villains' team, a fact which speaks for itself.
Due to the conservative social commentary of the book, I do not recommend it to anyone on this site.

I finished reading Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" book saga. It is one of my favorites now and I totally recommend it!
You should check it out if you like Sci-fi and adventure.

I'm a few pages into Mein Kampf, and find it interesting so far. I've always had a history fascination, and delving into the mind of one of history's most infamous dictators will be an interesting ride. The accuracy of the translation is something I'll look into later (I picked up Manheim's). There's several translations, but this particular one had gotten some good reviews, so I kind of just jumped in.
