Brave by Sara Bareilles was inspired by one of Sara's close friends coming out as lesbian, and her and co-songwriter Jack Antonoff from the band Fun. say it's a "civil rights anthem".

 

Chely Wright has written some songs about being gay in her album Lifted Off the Ground (Like Me, Wish Me Away, etc.) If you like country, she's your girl.

 

Didn't realize the guy from Fun. had a part in it!
Not going to lie, I came here to bring up this song, I heard it yesterday and actually listened and it clicked.

It's from a German band so I'm afraid most of you won't understand the lyrics.
But they shared it in reaction to the discrimination in Russia.
The lyrics are so wonderful in my opinion ... My english isn't good enough to translate everything for you but basically it's about sharing the pain (the title of the song is "One pain and one throat).

It's one of my favourite bands so I'm really proud they did this song.

these song always stood out to me when it came to lgbt stuff, they might have other meanings but hey, music is meant to be interpreted in other ways isn't it?
