I'll add another because this has happened to me several times in recent weeks: Being with a group of friends and being introduced to someone new as the "gay guy." Not finding it out 2 hours into meeting, but having your friends mention it aloud right out of the gate.
Being expected to love shopping, finding a lasting relationship, socializing with straight guys, your mother telling you that only girls do that, the list goes on lol
Most of the guys you like being straight, and it being hard trying to find someone who's your type. There's also a weird attitude that I don't like, which I've picked up from other gay guys when I tell them I prefer someone more similar to myself (i.e masculine). This usually comes from fem guys, 99% of the time. It's as if it's wrong to have a preference for a certain type of guy. Not really bothered if this offends anyone. The word 'gay' becoming a prefix to your name.
Or, even worse, when they seem gay in a few ways but it isn't what it seems. Or if they know you like them and enjoy teasing you - it can be fun and painful at the same time. Slipping in and out of acting gay all day long for different people.
Not being able to fall in love with someone in your daily life, I.e school,college or work. Its possible but the chances are few, so I envy all my straight friends who date people within their daily life circle. We have to make a conscious effort to go to places where we can find love, even when we do find love through these places, it's not the same as getting to see your boy friend/ girl friend everyday, like straight people do. This is especially true during high school n college. So yea that sucks. Further you can NEVER find out whether your crush is gay, n you can't even open up or approach the person if you are still in the closet. Frustrating straight crushes
One of the hardest part about being gay for me would be trying to get people to understand you. Some of the people I have come out to, give somewhat to very homophobic responses. It's really frustrating. Also, it's really lonely being gay, like everyone and everywhere you go, all of it is hetero. I wanna talk about gay things but it's not something I could do with my straight friends, and so I'm not very social. Another thing that's hard about being gay is finding someone to date, the chances are small.
When people casually throw around that you're gay when you're not comfortable with that yet... But you're also not comfortable to bring it up with them -_-
Hmm... Well the only girls I crush on are either straight or taken. So there's that. The YouTube comments section, just in general. Being shamed for not liking music with homophobic lyrics. That awkward moment when you're asked if you find a certain celebrity of the opposite sex attractive and if you say no then the person you're talking to may take it personally. Being seen as picky/stuck up and immature by those that I'm not out to. And to those I am out to, being expected to know which celebrity is gay and which isn't. This situation: Me: I'm gay. Them: Oh you're gay? Are you hitting on me? Me: No. Them: You're not? Why won't you hit on me? Are you saying I'm ugly? Me: No I'm not I'm.... Them: Oh so you're saying you're into me? Sorry, I don't swing that way. Me:
A certain breed of straight women. Coworker: "OMG, I was hoping we would finally get some hot men in the team, but then we get him" (i.e. myself) a few minutes later... "OMG I LOVE gay guys! They are all so hot!"
Yeah, I have a bad habit of falling for straight girls...It's really unfortunate. Also, all of the homophobes and the people who don't believe that Bisexuality is a sexual orientation. Those people make me really annoyed.
I can relate to this. The most obvious gay guys tend to be very.. stereotypical, and I don't find it attractive myself. This is why I prefer meeting other gay guys online, and why I don't really go to gar bars very often.
Trying to figure out if your crush is gay or straight. It's like: Oh yay he's doing a stereotypical gay thing! He's gay YAY! Oh no he's doing a stereotypical straight thing he's straight pls help. Wait, he's doing a stereotypical gay thing I'm pretty sure he's gay, NOOOOO he said he's straight. No, he just did a stereotypical gay thing I think he's gay in denial. He just did a stereotypical straight thing I THINK HE'S STRAIGHT WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY???!!??!! Wait, he just did a stereotypical gay thing. (etc)
I feel this. My crush is quite quiet at times and when he's talking it never really looks like he's there. He also hugs other guys who he's friends with, but it looks he does it jokingly. So I'm there thinking "gAH iN deNIaL?!?!?" ;-;
I guess this is more about my gender but I don't think I'll ever get into a relationship with a cis girl because she would make me feel so dysphoric. Had I been AFAB I would have been comfortable being lesbian but my dysphoria would completely crush my relationship.
