Hey, I didn't come up with the statistics you said 100s of coal miners, so I said a "few." Lol don't come back and yell at me for having incorrect statistics which you initially gave. Anyways, the rest of the argument is silly. I don't debate with people who don't believe in science.

I don't think it is possible to have a logical discussion with someone who doesn't believe in scientific evidence. 50,000 people being unconvinced by having to train for a new job and change fields is nothing compared to those who will die from environmental disasters resulting from the coal industry among others

Underlined: These issues actually do ruin lives, directly and indirectly. Killings and environmental devastation (even if it happens outside of the US) are worth something, wouldn't you agree?

In bold: What do you actually mean by that?

Italicised: Looking at everything you've said, your ideal candidate is anything but a middle of the road sort.

  4. (List goes from most important to least important.)

Those who support gay marriage and abortion are my main priority.

    I want a president I would...

Stop meddling into other country's affairs unless their government's military attacks us (9/11 attacks don't count!).

Slash military spending from $600 billion to $100 billion. End all missile and nuclear programs since they eat up our money and has proven to not benefit us in any way.

Bring tax rates up to 50% for those that make more than $250,000 and lower corporate taxes to 30% to keep businesses in the U.S.

Reform social security to ease federal spending.

End all foreign aid except for cases of natural disasters (Typhoon Haiyan, Fukushima Earthquake.

Yeah sure they can provide them job training in other fields. However what if they cannot find a job with that kind of training and what if they don't enjoy any other job. People have worked in a field all their lives should not have to change their careers. Yeah job training sounds reasonable as long as they are getting paid for the new training the same salary they usually get and are guaranteed another job after that or else that deal won't work. I know first hand how hard it is to find jobs in this economy and seen first hand the poverty people suffer because they lost their jobs causing them to not be able to provide for their families. Turning to drugs and alcohol and crime to survive. I live in this world everyday so I don't feel the environment personally affecting me and I think these miners deserve their jobs back.

That's a lot of money to take away from development, poverty alleviation, refugee assistance etc.

Why is all this being done at a national level? My goodness, I feel it's right to help people, but individuals should not be compelled to do so through their tax dollars.

Is this the norm of Australian politics?

By middle of the road i mean a more Independent candidate. They are a combination of liberal and conservative values. They are pro gay(liberal) and pro gun(conservative) and they believe in a strict foriegn policy as border control and clear distinction of who are allies(Israel) and are enemies(Iran) are and we keep a strong military presence if needed in countries that need our assistance and we do not work with countries that violate human rights or our immigration laws. Also with immigration any illegal immigrant should be kicked out of the country no questions asked because my ancestors worked hard to live in this country and did abide by the laws and so should they. They no extra special than my ancesters. Also if someone wants to do drugs in the privacy of their own home the government should allow it no questions asked. A government out of our lives is what i want in a president.

No way. We never should cut our military spending. We need the best and toughest and most expensive military wars or no wars. Military spending is off limits in my opinion.

Show me the statistics for these deaths from environmental disasters. To it is almost a sin to force someone to switch careers without a guarantee for another good job. Yeah you can train for any job but what if you cannot find another job. I lived in West Virgiina a Coal mining state and see the poverty and the drug abuse first hand because of this loss of jobs and I am not sympathetic to any scientific evidence so I am sorry for my ignorance.

It's the norm of almost every developed nation, including your own. Australia has sadly been lowering its contribution from an already small AU$5 billion a year. The immense harm to those relying on aid were the US to cut over US$40 billion can't be understated.

No candidate is ever going to match my views, but I can dream, I guess.

    I'd like a candidate who:

-is very pro-environment and helps fight environmental damage and carbon emissions
-is big on civil rights, including those for LGBT people. That includes marriage equality and anti-discrimination laws.
-is tough on illegal immigration and border patrol but improves the legal immigration system.
    -is pro gun-control
    -places restrictions on abortion
-is for the most part non-intervening. Doesn't get involved in foreign countries' wars, especially not over oil.
-crushes the NSA and their spying
-supports the legalization of marijuana and a scaling down of the "war on drugs"
-destroys the "common core" and supports separation of church and state, but not to the point that it impinges on 1st amendment freedoms.

So yeah. No such candidate. But I have some issues that I feel more strongly about.

Completely agree with you. There will never be a candidate that will match my views.
