Will you date a person / be in a relationship with a person who prefers to watch oldies/retro shows (I love Lucy, Diff'rent Strokes etc.) and listen to oldies/retro songs (Beatles,Carpenters,Bee Gees etc.)?
If I were not in a relationship, of course, why not? :icon_bigg Television is not important to me and my taste in music is non-standard, so I wouldn't mind at all.
No because interests define a person! /end sarcasm Ofc wether or not I like a person is defined by his personality and appearance not his music or tv interests My question to you is tho, would you be in a relationship with someone who doesn't like old/retro tv/music?
Well, if I can put up with family members doing that(my mom and an older cousin, etc. do that, especially the latter, who watches stuff like Bonanza faithfully), I could put up with anyone doing that. Hell, I even have some myself which I tend to catch occasionally, or if I'm with said relatives who are watching - Good Times, Sanford and Son, I Dream of Jeannie, ya di da...
Huh? Maybe I am little daft but why does it make a difference if my boyfriend listen Rap or Metal? Love sci-fi or fantasy fiction? Like FPS or RPGs? If I love a man, I'd love that man. Love comes in a whole package, you can't nitpick or order your partner.
Sometimes I wonder that about said cousin I mentioned above(half joke/half serious). Pretty much 80%+ of the stuff he'll watch is from the 70s/80s and before. I know it kinda annoys his gf, if she wants to watch something with him and a modern show they have a mutual interest in isn't on. :icon_lol:
I don't see why not, so long as that person would watch some things that I like every now and then, too!
My suggestion, if you don't like retro stuff, dont you ever date a reenactor. And personally, I would definitely prefer dating the old school master race over the filthy modern techno music peasants.
Sure. I like to cast a wide net in terms of music, TV, film, art, and like to view things in their historical contexts, or examine how they define these contexts. So I'd have no problems, so long as they also kept an open mind.
As long as they don't insist that we should do things their way all the time, I wouldn't mind dating them.
