Kind of like the US - relatively sparse, suburban, car-orientated, very sunny. Their culture has similarities to here, and their style of governance is also similar.
I would love to have been able to visit your country, but at this stage of my life, I doubt that I will ever do so. I have a question for you, Kael, I have seen a few Australian films w/ gay themes/characters, and it seems that being gay is fairly well accepted by most people there. Do you think that is true in real life or is it just part of the movie fiction?
Yeah, same here. I don't dislike the Australian people, but I have an intense hatred of their government and if I was given a choice as to a free week long trip to Sydney, Australia or Pyongyang, North Korea, I'd take the latter, because at least the North Koreans actually believe in their own delusions. On the other hand, I adored Franz Kafka's visceral story In the Penal Colony, which I believe takes place on an island off the coast of Australia, and I'm a huge fan of Ozploitation cinema (grindhouse movies made in Australia in the 70s) and Mad Dog Morgan is one of my favorite films.
It's a place I'd like to visit one day. My impression of Australian people is that they are very warm and friendly, but also brutally honest.
lol. I have a friend who is studying in Australia for the year and she sent a snapchat saying that everyone was gorgeous. When I think of Australia, I imagine Sydney. So, just an ordinary city. Maybe just slightly hotter. Also, judging from what I've been told by my friend, everything is more expensive.
Other then the reintroduction of the Imperial Honors system and Compulsory voting. Both of which I find disgusting. I have really no negative views on Australia. Unfortunately I know little about the place, but when mentioned I think of vast, flat deserts.
My home. I don't think people actually notice how big Australia is and how little our population is compared to this.
I don't know much about Australia. I heard there's a lot of snakes and wild life. Would love to visit some day, but there's no way I could afford a trip like that.
I think Australia is generally a pleasant country. It seems to have its shit in a sock, and is a generally accepting nation. Though the heat and bugs is a big turn off. (though I can't say the same for the glorious accent ) If I had to live outside the UK I would be honoured to live in Australia or New Zealand.
Spiders. Besides that in my humble opinion australians r good looking but i have an australian friend who says its not true but i dont believe him.
When I think of Australia, I think of fairly massive fairly big cities like Sydney and Perth. Also, Wildlife and Uluru come to mind. Probably the most dominant thought I have to be completely honest is Kaiser's... I've noticed Australia tends to have some pretty frickin' GORGEOUS men. *drools* :icon_redf :icon_redf :icon_redf
the first things that come to my mind are the wiggles and tim tams. also, hot people with hot accents. i visited for a month, a few years ago, to visit family friends and travel around, and i really liked it.
Oh my god... All these hilarious responses!! It really makes me smile to read all you guys' thoughts on the country I live in. And I'm glad almost all are positive. And I can totally agree with some people; our government is fucked. Completely screwed at the moment. I feel like we should kick them all out and start all over again. And people are saying... Australians are hot? Come on guys... we're not that gorgeous. I mean, look at me. Lol. Anways... I'd love to hear more thoughts on Australia. OH! And I have a question for people not living here... Are some Australian TV shows big things in your country... like... we have "'The Dome', FAST TRACKED FROM THE U.S *deep voice with awesome music in background*" Are there Aussie TV shows that are advertised in other countries like that? I've always imagined stuff like... "'Home and Away'... Only hours after the Australian release..." going on other people's TV's in other countries... So does that happen at all? Kael~
i don't think many australian shows air in canada... i think we mostly have kid's shows like bananas in pyjamas from australia. our tv is mostly american. i don't think many canadian shows would air in australia, either
