Ok so here's the deal. I want to write a novel and I'm looking for inspiration. I have decided I may find that inspiration by writing a short story for you guys and girls. I am therefore leaving it up to you all to decide what I shall write and I will post the finished product here publicly for all to read. I have limited it to Sci-fi, Crime and Fantasy as those are where I feel I can excel. It's up to you to include any information on what extra detail I should include (time period, sex of the main character etc) feel free to give ideas you'd like to see me expand upon. Whichever gets the most votes and has the most interesting ideas I will choose. Also feel free to post your opinions on this etc, whatever you like.
I've always liked stories that blur the line between Sci/Fi and Fantasy. For example, some kind of technology that allows you to enter a Fantasy world; or people that travel by spacecraft to a fantasy world. You could also do the reverse. Have a magic user enter a scientific world. You could even make the main character an escaped felon that is on the run.
Oh I do like your thinking, that's interesting. Remember this is me writing a short story purely for your entertainment, everyone on here. It's to get me in the mood for writing my own novel. This is purely for fun so let rip, what would you LOVE to read? I'll write it.
I've seen this before...Something that happens over and over again and you can't wake up from it...weird science! Being trapped in time never more and never less...
You want to be a character? Interesting request lol and an interesting name to work into it (!) I'll do my best
Well I can only give you my first name which is Holly, you can make up a second name! But make it fancy ;D
How about a fortune teller who is wrongly imprisoned. She or he escapes by magical means into a fantasy world but is lost and lonely. Then meets someone who can train her for a price...
You have my word I will use it then and it will be fancy haha. It would appear the votes are leaning towards sci-fi/fantasy!
Sci-fi! I love speculating on technology based on current and theoretical science. It's basically a case of "My stuff is too awesome to exist yet but I dare you to prove it can't." But remember, whatever genre you choose, its trappings are only a means of furthering the plot. If your story requires magic and swords, use them. Likewise for sentient computers, aliens, and starships. ^^I neglect to specifically mention crime because you can have a crime drama in either of those broader genres.
I like to see mixes of Sci-fi and Fantasy. Cyborg knights for the win. I also love to see subversions and deconstructions of tropes. I have like a trope fetish.
So many good ideas! This will be a very interesting story. I am very excited to be able to show you what I can come up with from all these ideas. I hope more people comment on here.
