I met mine when we were like 11, became involved in a romantic relationship at 14, now we're separated.

I met mine on an online personal ad. We hooked up at an adult bookstore, had sex, and have been together for almost eight years. That's a lifetime in gay years.

######! I had conversations with a fair few men but the ones that were sex only quickly went quiet. We hit it off right away, and though I was a little nervous, I quickly felt at ease. A mere two months strong but I'm happier than I've been in a very long time.

I joined a women's rugby team to meet some likeminded women, ended up bumping into a men's team on a night out and I hit it off with one of the guys. Life is strange sometimes.

Heh, I joined the wrestling club in high school, even though I don't really like the sport, simply because of how intimate the grabs and holds were! A year later I'd begin my 27 year gay denial.

Met my husband in a bar. I was there with one of my exes (already ex at the time). I talked with my now husband for hours and ended up leaving with him. When I called my ex the next morning to apologize for ditching him his response was "Dude, you don't have to apologize. I was there. I saw him." Anyway, our one-night stand went terribly wrong--so far it's lasted 25 years and counting

My first and only boyfriend and I met thanks to mutual friends. We were waiting to a friend outside her high school, and then he showed up because he studied there too. We started to talk, we waited for him too at the exit of his high school, then he joined our group... and I felt that I liked him, invited him to my birthday, and when I knew that he liked me too and he declared his feelings to me, we started our relationship.

Hello All.....First off, I am in a mixed-orientation marriage. Yes I am gay and that is a long story, but that's not what this thread is about. I started my first teaching job in a small town (1500 population) far from anywhere! After the first home football game the kids invited me to an after game get-together (I was the band director). At the party we played a stupid game where you got a note with an animal name on it and had to make that sound while looking/listening for the one other person who also had that animal. The older sister of one of my students was there and had my animal. That's how we met! She moved away right after that for three years and when she returned we got to know each other and three years later got married. She has stuck with me through everything. In 2014 I finally accepted that I am and always have been gay and in 2015 I came out to her. She accepted me has stayed by my side. Our family of three sons/daughters-in-law and nine grandkids are an incredible blessing to me. I cannot express how much Empty Closets means to me. It and the people wonderful people on it saved me in my darkest hour and have kept me sane and given me a reason to be excited about every day since I came out here on EC in 2014. :old_big_grin: Happy New Year to everyone!

One was a childhood friend, the other I met online. Neither was a good experience to be honest.

Edit: sorry, forgot I couldn’t give names of apps.

Twenty-six years ago, I ran an ad in a gay magazine--that's how long Sam and I have been together.

Matched with them on a dating app, chatted for a week then got into an argument and ended up blocking each other.
Fast forward to 2020, we rematched and this time it worked out. Been with them since.

Wow, just logged in after a few month hiatus and I don't remember asking that question. But anyway, I still chat with my ex from time to time and we get along just fine. I'm still single, so hopefully, I'll probably meet my special someone - who knows?

Ditto. It's sweet to read these... better than a gay movie because they're real life experiences.

College. We had multiple classes together so we got to know each other pretty quickly.
