Talk about your favorite video game and its general plot! Mine is stardew because of its accessibility (its available on 90% of devices and consoles) and it's very very pro-trans and pro gay. The plot is:ur grandpa dies, leaving you a farm. The town nearby needs your help to fix the community center and bring back joy to stardew valley.
I've played World of Warcraft off and on (but mainly on) for 18 years. It's really the only game I play any more.
I love Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. You inherit a farm from your grandfather. You upgrade the farm and your house and donate fish, artefacts and animal photos to the museum to bring the luxury cruise liner to Olive Town. I’ve married the same character in several different play throughs and got a kid and several pets. You mine for various metals to upgrade tools and raise and breed animals. I’ve spent hundreds of hours on this game.
If app games count, then I play manor matters every day. It's addicting. It's really a puzzle game and hidden objects game, but you unfold mysteries by collecting stars, with each puzzle game you beat you earn the stars and if you have enough stars to complete a task, then by completing tasks you renovate an old mansion with the garden the player inherited. There are even mini games. There is a romance aspect too, where I'm just waiting one of the characters to confess finally and you get to name your orange fluffy cat who comes with the mansion. I named my cat Jewel. I'm past level 4000.
I like that too, but my switch became overloaded by the time I got to the third mine. It's such a nice cosy game, though, it doesn't matter somehow. I'm going to get the new version of Wonderful Life when I can (used to play that on my Gamecube a lot). Have you ever played the Rune Factory games? I think favourites... MInecraft, some Final Fantasy games (7,8 and 10), Sims 2 + 3, Age of Empires games, Civ games, Advance Wars, most farming sims, I don't really like BotW, loved Ocarina of Time... I do like Fire Emblem: Three Houses a lot too.
Too many. Top ones: Resident Evil 1/3 Life is Strange/LiS Before the Storm (Chloe <3) Cyberpunk 2077 Fallout 4 Starfield GTA Series Mass Effect Series L.A. Noire Dirt Rally 2 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Stormworks Mudrunner/Snowrunner Jalopy My Summer Car NFS Carbon/2015/Unbound
Mainly various RPGs: Rogue, NetHack, Angband, Ancient Domains of Mystery, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale, Elder Scrolls 2 and 3; some strategy games, like early C&C series, Age of Empires, Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and 3.
Recently bought Red Dead Redemption 2 so that's quickly becoming my favourite but also love Fallout 4, No Mans Sky and Car Mechanic Simulator 2021
I haven't dipped into Stardew Valley because I've been dipping into Animal Crossing: New Horizons every now and again. Knowing it has positive LGBTQ themes perks my interest. I'm going to check it out for myself, but I'd be very interested in hearing more of your impressions.
I've wanted to play the Fallout games in order for a long time, I've finally started playing the first one. It's great!
DOOM and it's subsequent sequels (DOOM 3 doesn't exist in my world) have been my go-to games for 30 years. I love the premise of the story, the pace of the action and the great release of stress that always follows. I also love the Batman Arkham games. I love being the Bat and that he doesn't kill anyone. Enjoyable stories and side quests have kept me entertained for hours. I'm a big Nintendo fan loving the Mario, Zelda and Metroid games. I play a number of RPGs but hate grinding so rarely JRPGs. I've been meaning to start Fallout myself, but not yet got round to it.
Dark Souls I love that it's a better Berserk game than the actual Berserk games. Also I related to Gwyndolin. Growing up as the wrong gender sucks, his Dad was a selfish arsehole who just decided to raise him as a her out of a general antipathy for the moon he was born under. Oh and yeah Stardew Valley is really chill love the setting and characters.
It honestly changes every few years. It used to be To the Moon, then I got into Celeste, and now I seem to be getting into Rogue, the same Rogue that inspired all those rougelikes.
Has anyone here played Endless Sky? It's free on Steam if you're interested. It's a modern remake of an old 90's Mac game called Escape Velocity. It's a space trading game, where you explore a galaxy of star systems, purchase and upgrade new ships, and take various jobs. Over time you build a fleet, and can get involved with various politcal factions (pirates, the government, militias, rebels, etc). I've sunk so many hours into this one and it just never gets old. It's become my go to for when I need a break from whatever game I'm "really" playing. On my current game, I've fashioned myself the captain of an interstellar cruise ship, carting large groups of party people and business travelers across the galaxy in the comfort of a top of the line Star Liner. They and their belongings are guarded by a big group of fighters and warships. It's a good life.
Eh it's hard to choose just one so I guess I'll list my favorites: GTA San Andreas Super Mario World Celeste Stardew Valley Sonic Mania So mostly a bunch of retro stuff. I can also make games but I almost never finish a game because I tend to give up when I get to making the actual levels
I don’t get much time to play nowadays, but nevertheless these always have a place on my computer: NetHack Dwarf Fortress The Elder Scrolls 2 and 3 Ancient Domains of Mystery Rogue
