For a transitioning M2F, are there any good guides to the practical things one needs to know in order to live as a woman - basic clothing; make-up; deportment; hair, nails, and skin; etc.?

Hi Trout, my best guides have been my cis-girlfriends. I'd start by asking female friends about all those essentials. Also..look at what cis women wear and how they carry themselves and take note internally.

Regarding makeup it's very much a question of practice, practice, practice. I'd also go to a specialist store to work out which foundation you need. And then...it's a matter of working out a daytime look that works and a 'going out' one.

All of it is a lot of fun, and (for me at least) a blessed relief after decades of wearing dull male clothing and no makeup. You have a lot to look forward to!

Thank you…but the problem with that is I don’t currently live near any of my friends, and I’ve never been good at making friends. I’ve never even lived with a cis-woman (other than my mother, of course). I know there are some people that offer ‘professional training’ (as it were) in these sorts of thing, but I don’t live anywhere near any that I know of. Heck, the nearest shopping mall is 45 minutes away. That’s all why I was hoping to find some sort of ‘How to live as a woman 101’ training that I could study at my home and practice in my local area.

There are videos on YouTube that give tips for trans people (clothing, make up and so on). Maybe you can get help from these videos. You could search tips for male to female transition.

That was helpful, in that — I’d tried similar searches to that before (and this one gave similar results), which were *not* the sort of things I was looking for, but rather things like hormones, surgery, legal advice, psychiatric support, etc. However, it then occurred to me to add the items I wanted help with to the search, e.g., “clothing tips for male to female transition”, “make up tips for male to female transition’. And those resulted in a number of useful hits, so Thank You! (Though I still would like to find all that in one place *sigh*.)
