Ooooh! I forgot to add one that we always played in school during computer lab: Zoombinis. It was an educational puzzle game, but it was fun as hell. I could never seem to find it in stores to play at home, but I loved it when I found out we would be playing it in lab that day.
That reminds me of the flash games I used to play all the time in my school's computer lab. Electric Man 2 was one of my favorite ones.
I vaguely remember Myst, but it was a tough game and it was usually my dad who would play it. There were also games that I'd play in the computer lab at school but I can't remember them now, Zoombinis looks familiar to me. I used to play Cluefinders too.
I remember Myst! There was one location, some sort of red room that always freaked me out when I went in there.
The Planetarium? : P I know there's more red-themed rooms but I remember that freaked me out as a kid too lol, but there were a couple areas in Myst that scared me.
There was this old game called Putt-Putt where you're this purple little car and you travel through time. I loved that game so much as a kid.
Zaxxon and Rogue. Rogue was a text based RPG where the PC and NPCs were simply represented as ASCII characters. Low fi, but high fun!
i played commander keen series, doom, island of dr brain, ecoquest - lost secret of the rain forest, the kings quest series. My dad was into computers early on and would go to these electronic flea markets to gather parts and build his own computers. In turn he also gained a ton of the early computer games ranging from great to bad. We always had those shareware cd's that had like 50 games on them. the ones listed are the ones i remember the most. hmm if its a math learning game from early on, maybe math blaster?
Oh my goodness the oldest game I can remember is another version of that game: Putt-Putt Saves The Zoo. I never knew there was another one :O
I have very fond memories of Encarta MindMaze (obviously), Links: The Challenge Of Golf, Titus The Fox and Wannabe A Pop Star. I'm probably showing my age a little, heh!
I first got hooked on video games when Space Invaders and Asteroids were just coming out in arcades. other games like Joust and Robotron were also favorites I played often.
I used to be obsessed with Alex the Kidd in Miracle World & Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Master System.
