Driving LGBT people back underground. Trump Administration Removes LGBT Population From 2020 Census | NewNowNext
I don't really see how anybody can be surprised by this. Although it would be interesting to talk to people that actually thought he cared about minorities lol.
Wasn't there a few people on here who thought Trump was pro LGBTQ? This has Pence all of it IMO. I doubt Trump really gives a crap about this-he's too busy tweeting and golfing.
I don't understand how they can remove something that apparently didn't exist (it was only proposed?).
Hello, This reminds me of a picture I saw of Trump holding a gay pride flag that had "LGBTs for Trump" written on it . . . and it was upside down, purple on top. If you google "Trump pride flag" you can see it. I'm not sure if this was a well-known image though. I don't know much about politics so I don't know the names of the people, but someone posted a picture on Twitter that says "Here are the first three members of the Trump administration" with "a woman," "a gay man," and "a black man." Then someone responded with "A misogynist black man, a homophobic woman, and a racist gay man." I have no idea what's accurate as this is Twitter, but I found it funny. Bee
That just about sums up the Trump administration. To be honest the man is a misogynist, narcissist, pervert, neanderthal. Just my opinion of course, I'm British.
Dear Trump, You need to change your senses, and I'm still hoping you and your administration gets removed from office in 2020. (preferably much sooner) Thanks, skittlz P.S. what's gonna happen to anti-gay hypocrites *cough*State Sen. Ralph Shortey of Oklahoma*cough* in the government?
Well, you certainly aren't wrong. You know a lot more than many Americans do about him with just that.
I really dislike this man. He has taken so much from us. He was "for" LGBT rights during the election, and now, he is turning his back on us once more. Truly, he is a liar. He put up walls for those seeking safety, thus putting blood on his hands for the children who died from a war torn home. He tried to take our health care, leaving the elderly to die in crippling debt, and to make health care a luxury for the rich. Now, he is erasing the people who struggled so hard to have equality, by silencing them.
I was also under the impression he was "pro" LGBT but after recent news about transgender rights I thought I must've dreamt it. Obama did well, from an outside perspective, but sad to see the decline into madness. There are some things that Trump wants I agree with, namely bringing jobs back to into America rather than Mexico or China. Pity the bad far, far, far outweighs any good he tries to do.
Just my opinion, Trump is a spoiled little boy who has never worked a hard day in his life and has always gotten anything he has wanted. Bet his hands are as soft as a babies bottom!
Despite my dislike for the Trump administration, just note how messy censuses are in terms of collecting data about LGBT people - many people are unwilling to disclose (even when the metric is same-sex couples, censuses often undercount because of timidness, which has been a problem in Australian censuses) or yet unaware. That can skew data and make it less meaningful. I oppose questions beyond establishing the number of same-sex couples because I don't think they give enough accurate information.
from the article: U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) introduced a bill last May that would have required respondents to answer questions about their sexuality and gender identity, but it failed to pass. I'm not sure requiring respondents to answer questions is a good idea, particularly since the current government will have access to the individual information. Think Trump is bad for the LGBTQ community? Wait until Pence takes over. Yes it might be wrong and illegal to misuse that information, but it is technically possible.
This is disappointing, but not surprising. It would have been nice to get some sense of our numbers. Sure some people would not answer honestly if they weren't sure or ready to admit their orientation or gender identity. Yes, the numbers reported would be less than really exist, but over time we could see trends as more people are willing to be truthful. It could also show % LGBT in the various age groups. I think younger people are more willing to report accurately and our actual % is consistent in all generations, even though older people under report. Unfortunately even if these questions were on it, this government wouldn't do anything positive with the info such as funding for elderly LGBT care or other vulnerable LGBT people.
