Basically, what's your favorite genre of music that involves electronic/synthesized elements in some way, and what are some examples of music that sounds like that? I'm hoping to discover some new electronic artists through this thread... For example, mine would be electropunk or digital hardcore, including bands/artists like Mindless Self Indulgence, Crystal Castles, and Death Spells
It would either be like 90s rave (prodigy etc) or 70s German style (kraftwerk, Bowie's album Low etc). I think I'll go with 70s.
Chiptune, doubtlessly. A few examples, I suppose: https://soundcloud.com/kiyo-23/jake-kaufman-mighty-switch-1 https://soundcloud.com/dtrx/plasma-luna https://soundcloud.com/sexytoadsandfrogsfriendcircle/stinkbug-coda-bomb-sniffing-pomeranian
Hard one, there's so many subgenres that is great. So I'll just say Trance, even though that genre also has many subgenres.
Trance is absolutely one of the best electronic music genres. Songs produced tend to sound fast paced yet simplistic. Here's one of my favorite trance tracks, "Long Way Home" by Gareth Emery.
Been paying more attention to Acid House recently. Amazing stuff. Should have got into it sooner. The TB303 gave a lot of it its iconic sound, and Roland recently released their closest emulation of it, the TB-03. I went to try it out at a local music shop. JUICY! Wanted to get one but ended getting another synth instead. ---------- Post added 7th Jan 2017 at 06:41 PM ---------- Link to video - https://youtu.be/oT-NDt8N90E?t=1102 Listen to those juicy squelchy acids!
Me three. Have you heard of Sim Gretina? They have a YouTube channel and some pretty good Electro swing music (I'd recommend looking into the Peggy Suave series).
i kind of like the 90s techno scene, "darkcore", industrial, goth, those kind of things some example:KMFDM, Dulce Liquido, Skinny Puppy, Combichrist, Mortiis
I don't really have a favorite but it goes from anything like CHVRCHES to KMFDM to Oceanlab. I enjoy all types of electronic other than dubstep.
I don't usually listen to a lot of electronic music but I will recommend some songs. Please listen to these songs: LA Funky by Destructo Cherry by Chromatics Can't Go For That by Daryl Hall + John Oates Walking On A Dream by Empire Of The Sun
I love 80's New Wave, especially New Order, but also bands like Depeche Mode. I also love some modern pop/synth pop artists such as La Roux and Ellie Goulding. And I'm a huge fan of artists such as Chvrches, Empire of the Sun, Capital Cities, Banks, Cults, and Goldfrapp.
definitely industrial. and anything that at least derived from industrial. I'm particularly fond of aggrotech and powernoise. but you can also give me some good synthpop or futurepop.
