what are your opinions on giving cars a name? if you name yours, what are they called? Most of my family have always named their cars and i'm currently trying to think of one for my new car lol
I know a few people who named their cars. My dad named his old truck "Bitch". Not even kidding: he named her that because she was so temperamental. It was an old 1970-something Power Wagon that he was always working on. He loved the hell out of that truck, though; it kind of broke him up when he finally had to let her go because he couldn't afford the upkeep anymore. Me, personally, I don't have a car. I have a bike, which yes, I did name. "Todeslust", which translates to "death wish" in English. You would almost have to have a death wish to ride her if you're not me; she has no brakes and only I know how to handle her without crashing her. (And because I ride like a fucking psychopath.)
Some people do and some people don't. I name my computers though and my mobile phones which might be strange. Idk.
I like naming cars-- gives them personality. My 2000 Intrepid earned the name "Sparky" due to the electrical arcs across the top of the engine every time you tried to start it up. o.0 It was a good car though. My current car, a 2012 Civic, is yet unnamed.
 I could call my car much worse at times as she is awkward as hell, but I think that's just because i'm not used to her yet Love the name yikes, you are very brave
I have a 2012 Mazda i3 touring in a bright electric blue color. And as original as I am, I named him Blue when I bought him. And I've also clearly decided he's a boy. LOL!
 I always refer to objects as female as that seems to be the default gender even though some feel and look more male..if that makes sense :lol: ---------- Post added 22nd May 2016 at 03:03 AM ---------- It's a Skoda Fabia
I assign all of my cars a name! I have a beloved Chevy Van rat rod which i lovingly call it the "old girl"
Oh yes...naming cars is still very much a thing. My old car is named Neville...because of its original license plate number, which began with NVL. I just started address it that way and it totally stuck. We recently bought a Prius...and I swear that during the test drive, the car told me its name was Pirus...yes, that's Pirus the Prius. He's a nautical blue cove.
Before I sold it, I cared on the tradition of naming a family jeep "Victor". Or maybe it was "Bruce", idk.
My aunt named her car "Summer". I think it's pretty cute. My parents think it's pathetic to name your car so our car doesn't have a name. My bicycle is called Margaret. No particular reason why I chose that name.
We used to have a falcon Xy V8 (aussies will know what I'm talking about) even though it had 4 doors I used to as a kid I used to try to climb thru the windows and we named it "The General!" had a honda z50 j motor bike called Sheba as a kid and i did have an 88 trans am i was going to do up like kitt from knight rider
My 04 Cavalier is named Red (not for his color but after Morgan Freeman's character from Shawshank Redemption). He's rough and has a million quirks (including peace sign duct tape sealing the driver's side window) but he is the most reliable car, no, relationship I've ever had. I will literally bawl when I have to lay him to rest. I tend to anthropomorphize things. I named my guitar, too (Scarlet) and even set up her own Facebook page for a while. We were 'dating.' Now we're long lost friends... ---------- Post added 22nd May 2016 at 05:00 AM ---------- Great name! lol
I name everything in my life that costs over $100. It makes me appreciate it more. My family's car I dubbed Soo Chin. She's awesome.
My first car was named Greenie, because he was green (duh!) Oh, it was a VW Golf, which I wrote off on 6th January 2009... My second car was named Snowflake. He was gay and fabulous! Still in existence, sold him in January, a Toyota Tazz My current car is named Zippy. He's also male, but straight. Chevrolet Spark (Yes, a small car, but sooo cool) I know I'm probably crazy naming my cars, AND sexing them too, AND dictating their sexuality... I like to believe our cars treat us well when we treat them well. So I talk to my car, crazy as that may seem. I thank him when I arrive at my destination safely, and I talk to him if he needs a bit more power/speed (Some friendly motivation).
