So many people mentioning so many places I would LOVE to visit! But of places I actually HAVE visited, I'd say Tokyo. I think Osaka is funkier but Tokyo has everything I ever wanted in a city. There is always something to do there if you don't mind putting up with masses of people. The best times to go there are in May, October or around Christmas/New Year's time. I used to go every New Year's because the ambience on actual New Year's Day is really chill. A lot of places are still open but there aren't so many people around. And depending on which ward you stay in you have a totally different experience. Shinjuku is crazy nightlife, Shibuya is hardcore shopping, Ueno has art museums and a zoo, Akihabara is geek city plus. I used to like Harajuku but it's mostly name brands now, so it's better to go to Shimokitizawa or Kichijoji. And there's always Mitaka with the Ghibli Museum. That whole area is really like a cozy small town and it's just minutes from Shinjuku's mob scene.
I love Chicago. I love the downtown "loop", the magnificent mile, the downtown parks, the neighborhoods, and of course, the pizza.
I love Chicago, too. From the moment I stepped off the plane at O'Hare's Terminal 1, I fell in love with the city.
San francisco and also Queenstown in NZ (don't know if Queenstown is really a city but it's such a beautiful place in the world!)
Just driving through, I've always LOVED the look and feel of Cincinnati. The waterfront and bridge coming in from the south, and then all the skyscrapers jumbled together on the hills to form a very intricate concrete jungle (especially east-ish side near the stadium). My favorite city to drive through. ---------- Post added 24th Jul 2016 at 12:52 PM ---------- What is P-town like? I want to visit someday.
You mean Portland? It's absolutely amazing. It's an LGBTQ paradise, not to mention we've got wonderful environmental initiatives. And we even have a kickass airport.
Loved Montreal, it was beautiful. I would say either LA or NYC for second. Then again, I don't think I've been to many different cities, so my opinion is rather limited.
Actually Provincetown, MA, the legendary lesbian hub, haha. But I'd like to visit Portland, too. I actually am really fond of Seattle, but I hear it's SUPER expensive there. ---------- Post added 24th Jul 2016 at 03:28 PM ---------- Anybody have an opinion of Vancouver, Canada? I'd like to visit there, too.
Chicago, hands down. A really great city, absolutely massive, Chicagoland (the metro area) goes from Wisconsin to Indiana. It's got a big city vibe, but each neighborhood is totally unique, and a lot of people are very friendly. Plus there are plenty of affordable, and also safe, neighborhoods pretty close to the Loop (Downtown). As far as the USA goes, public transit and walkability are great in the city, and in recent years there's been big investments in bike infrastructure.
I loved copenhagen. It is a very LGBT friendly city, the people are really nice, and best of all, BIKING! It is an amazing city to bike around with bicycle lanes on every road. Although the water is really cold, it was really nice swimming there.
Hamburg-Germany. I traveled through there when I was a child with my mum's now ex. At the time he was owner of his own delivery company and it sent him all over Europe, and on many occasions me and my mother would go with him. When I was 12 he had a delivery just outside of Hamburg and on a free day he decided to visit the city. The architecture hooked me and I fell in love. Ever since then I have had a desire to see as many cities around the world as I can. For me, the ideal holiday is that of concrete rather than sand. Cities hold much more wonder for me than a beach or swimming pool.
I really liked visiting London. Lots to do, friendly people, good transportation, and more Liberal than the US. Plus who doesn't love a nice English accent.
Im going to say London now. I spent a long time saying how over rated it was but after visiting I changed my mind. There is so much you can do there.
