Watch Gay Conversion Therapy Online | theage.tv I can't believe the misguided, cruel people who do this sort of thing to kids are not charged with child abuse of a psychological type, which can lead to suicide just like other forms of abuse can. Of course it's abusive also to the adults who get roped into it, but at least the adults are old enough to give their informed consent to it. I had better insert a warning that some of the things said by the founder of 'reperative therapy' might be upsetting to some folks so if you are really struggling with self-acceptance, be careful watching this. There are some appalling statements made.
I can't watch it from Canada either. Besides that, conversion therapy being abuse shouldn't be a surprise anymore. I just can't believe that people still believe this will benefit their child or loved one. This type of "therapy" should be banned everywhere.
Conversion therapy for minors is banned in California. Granted, that doesn't actually mean parents can't send their children to conversion therapy. That just means they have to send them out of state. It's like private prisons. They are illegal in California, but California exports prisoners to private prisons in Arizona, so it's legal despite not being legal. Anyway, fuck conversion therapy.
Yes, it is. But as long as people can claim it as "religious freedom", we will have trouble stopping it. Parents can refuse to have their kids treated by medical professionals under the umbrella of "religious freedom", so what is stopping them here?
Yeah that stuff is fucked up and shouldn't be allowed to happen. That's just cruel, emotional abuse. I mean you can't change that kind of thing. You can injure someone so deeply that they lose their personality and identity though. That is in effect what can happen. Perfectly fine gay guys turn unhappy and suicidal. There should be no guilt associated with being gay. I can't even imagine how one would get out of such a place.
I know this is more for trans people, but I think the parents also tried to put her through gay conversion therapy, so she listed that as well... What about Leelah's Law? I'm sorry, it's like 5:30 in the morning here, and I forget and feel way too lazy to look it up. >.> Was it ever passed? And if so, in what states? And even then, what Frisco said can still happen... which is horrible... ._.
Plot twist; Conservatives don't give a fuck if LGBT+ kids kill themselves. This is the epitome of abuse. Trying to turn someones own mind against them so they feel worse about themselves. Disgusting. This is pure homophobia, and homophobia kills.
