Mainly indie/alternative rock and synthpop. Some experimental electro but not to much, I think the only electronic artist I'm listening to right now is Arca and that's just because Arca is Arca haha. If you guys haven't heard of him you totally should, if not for the music then just because he's a gay guy quietly standing up for those who don't feel like fitting gender rules and stuff.

Bands I like, ummm, Chvrches, Passion Pit, Purity Ring, and Sky Ferreira (That I feel is like the Taylor Swift for guys who don't like pop) among other stuff~

I mostly listen to post-hardcore/alternative/metal (Black Veil Brides, Pierce the Veil, Bring Me the Horizon, etc.) but I listen to artists like Taylor Swift sometimes too. I've also been obsessed with musicals (Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, etc.)

I'm into Jazz and Swing, including this "new" thing they call electro swing.

From time to time I listen to industrial/electronic stuff (NIN, Prodigy), and I also have a soft spot for tunes made with 8/16 bit computers (games music, demos,etc...).

Pop and Jpop mostly, but if I hear a song I like I will usually get it no matter the genre.

However, I hate techno, dub-step, country, rap, and metal/screamo HOWEVER, there are exceptions to all these.

I listen to a variety of music. Like right now I'm currently listening to Joanna Newsom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDQIGraR3aI but 30 minutes before that I was listening to Shabazz Palaces http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_bqk0uaXNo. Sometimes when I'm stressed out, I listen to Anoushka Shankar especially with this live performance . There were genre of music that I easily fell in love to such as this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVS3crqBzSA and genres where I struggled with but ended up really liking it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W43aQxzjyeM , (nsfw) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-3pi0qLntQ .
Some songs I enjoy despite having no clue what they are singing about : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CTvTtk8nig , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CTvTtk8nig , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myEv3Qr3Efo.

Always difficult to name a favorite type of music and a favorite genre - because nowadays there are lots of different genres out there...
To keep it simple I group it in two big main parts.

1. Dark Electronic Music
Dark Electronic Music can be everything of Industrial, EBM, Noise, Aggrotech, Hellectro, Harsh, Dark Electro, Hardcore Electro, Dark Wave, Future Pop, Gothic stuff with electronic elements, etc.

2. Alternative!
Alternative is another huge spectrum. For me it includes some different genres of Metal (e.g. Melodic Death, Pagan, Nu Metal, Rap Metal), Metalcore, Rock, Alternative Rock, Punkrock, Grunge, Indie, Post-Hardcore, Riot Grrrl, NDH, 90s Rock, etc.

I have seriously varied taste in music, but usually like more alternative stuff. Lyrics are really important to me, which is why I can't stand a lot of pop!

The best vinyl's I brought this year are;
White Noise - PVRIS
Another Eternity - Purity Ring
Goddess - Banks
Froot - Marina and the Diamonds
Our Own House - Misterwives

and eagerly awaiting Foil Deer - Speedy Oritz to arrive

I try to listen to almost everything. Right now I'm trying to expand my knowledge of Tejano. Los Tigres del Norte just came out with a song about a lesbian (which is huge in the masculinized world of Tejano!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAPjfiXtJuM

When I'm not actively seeking out new stuff I usually still to classic rock or 90s and 2000s alternative.

OP: What kind of jazz do you like? I'm partial to big band myself.

Anything. Depends on my mood. Can vary from Metal to Rock and Punk or even Jazz and Pop or some other stuff that'd take some time to write down.

I have some really varied tastes in music. I like a lot of different kinds of pop, but more on the alternative, indie, and punk sides of pop (ex: Panic! At the Disco, Marina and the Diamonds, Set It Off). Then I'm also fairly into metal, but the weird thing about it is that metal music makes me really calm. I went to a concert once and my friends were all really concerned, lol.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I love musical theater. I've always been an actor at heart, and the more I listen to, the more I sing; and the more I sing, the better I get!

Just wondering since you like Dark Electro if you ever listen to XXYXX

or

Clams Casino - Super emotional artist, very industrial and gothic song especially the second one

My favourite song by him, and don't mind watching the music video

Void Petal - Very original sound, some of their songs have a metal vibe to them too.

I love country, rock, and some pop. Framing Hanley and Fall Out Boy are my current favorite bands that I listen to on repeat.

My favorite genres are Pop, R&B and Musicals, but I also listen to quite a lot of Rock and Country, and the occasional Jazz, Disco, Classical, etc.
