^They're crazy, all right, but comparing them to people who end/ruin peoples' lives (respectively) is pretty harsh IMO. Stupidity isn't a crime, but this Antisex site has reached peak Poe's Law. Is this a troll site or is the Russian dude who made this serious? That is the question. >"rational arguments" This looks like a shitty GeoCities website- a bad sign. Furthermore, the information here is all sorts of whacked. There's no citations for some of their information (the rest of it is poorly cited), and there's a bunch of spelling errors, too! Overall, this website sucks.
I don't see how it's harsh at all. A rapist is a person who controls another person's sexuality by forcing themselves on another person. An "antisex" advocate is a person who attempts to control another person's sexuality by making the argument that sex is unhealthy or unethical. Although these things are experienced in different ways, both people are behaving very unethically regarding other people's sexuality. Besides, I happen to know a murderer, but he's a actually a rather decent human being.
The grandest irony in this whole thing is that without sex, none of these "anti-sexers" would exist at all! LMAO.
Also, quite dogmatic in their views. A bit ironic really, given the dubious pseudoscientific evidence they use to support their conclusions, which are not even wrong. ---------- Post added 5th Jan 2015 at 05:40 PM ---------- They're test tube babies.
In the "Physical Damage" of sex section it says "Among humans, a study of 319 eunuchs in 1969 showed that their median life span was 13.5 years longer than intact males." Is it too much to suggest that testosterone might be the culprit in the decreased lifespan in males? In that section, it also says that nematode male worms live longer, whilst isolated from other males. On the other hand, isolating hermaphrodite worms did not result in any lifespan reduction. This effect is supposedly due to males spending too much time competing for territory. Anyways, what I meant to say is: Is research on hermaphrodite worms really applicable to humans? Also, where is the evidence that sexually active males die earlier than celibate males? Would I be off the point if I say that sex is a cardio workout that reduces stress levels? Tell me what you think.
yes. At best you can say that eunuchs appear to live longer than males who haven't been castrated. This doesn't imply a causative link. You'd also need to have samples indicating that eunuchs have lower testosterone than males who haven't been castrated in the comparitive groups (I know this is likely the case, but to draw a causative link you need something stronger than "eunuchs live 13.6 years longer.") AND then you would also need to eliminate confounding factors to demonstrate that testosterone is causing the decrease in life span. If you want to learn more about how testosterone studies are woefully misunderstood and poorly done, see Robert Sapolsky's The Trouble With Testosterone and his lecture series on Testosterone and human behavior. Says absolutely nothing about humans, as you mention belong. Especially because humans, in general, do not engage in that sort of primative behavior in constantly fighting over territory. no. as far as I know that data doesn't exist.
So you reserve judgement for now?! It would be interesting if the study was done monitoring the longevity of celibate men and eunuchs...
I dunno. Just seems to be a bunch of people who don't enjoy having sex, that's all. Not for me but to each his own. I didn't get too deeply in to the site but looked around enough to figure out what they're about. I didn't open any links for fear of something icky happening to my computer. A lot of icky computer stuff originates in that part of the globe. Ho Hum, nothing to get too excited about IMO.
