Why don't Canadians have IHOP or dennys? I mean they are famous for Mabel syrup

AG, this is funny ... with the picture and all. I might agree with you. I was recently there. The variety of pancakes they can put together is fairly amazing and some are downright delicious.

As for Denny's, they're pretty good. They have some seasonal pancakes right now. Generally, I find that I might prefer Denny's for lunch and dinner, though.

But, for breakfast, which you can have at either place at all hours, I'd go with IHOP.

There are a few Denny's in Canada. Very few. As for IHOP, I haven't checked. You'd think they would, since IHOP means International House of Pancakes.

I haven't had either in years. They aren't around my immediate area, and I don't go out of my way for either. I guess IHOP for breakfast, Denny's for dinner? But again, it has been years....

I could eat at either they're both the same IMO quality wise. If I had the choice I rather eat at a local diner, some of the best breakfast food I've ever had was at no-name diners!

I've actually never been to Denny's. IHOP is okay.

Both would be pretty close to last choice for me, but of the two, Denny's by far would be the choice over IHOP. In fact, among my friends, it's known as the International House of Indigestion.

One piece that influences things for me, at least in this part of the country: IHOP apparently serves premade frozen pancakes that they heat up in a microwave and serve. Denny's serves freshly made pancakes (though they do, at their busiest times, have a handful that they've made a few minutes earlier that are ready to serve.) This, according to people who have worked at both places. I do like me some yummy french toast

I always like to find a local mom-and-pop place. The service is usually better, and the food more interesting and creative. Of course, if you're looking for food at 3am... those two may be the only sit-down choices you have in many parts of the country.

    Lets see:
Denny's- Waitress offered to bring my husband a drink refill and disappeared. 30 min later I had to track down the manager for a bill, and we still had not gotten the drink refill. Manager asked if I wanted to leave a tip on the bill I said NO! Well that's a strike for Denny's

IHOP- my husband, his mother and I were seated, then entire staff was sitting at a table where they could see us. No one even gave us a menu, let alone checked to see if we wanted to order anything. We left and went to Shari's across the street and got the best service ever.

I would say neither IHOP nor Denny's

I've had bad experiences at both...

Denny's- waiting an hour for cold pancakes....

IHOP- Lets just say it was furry and came out of the kitchen...

I would have never dreamed of this. I might have even thought it was the other way around. So, it looks like I will be seeing more of Denny's and less of IHOP. Aside from the food, a lot of IHOPs can be claustrophobic and Denny's provides for more people watching opportunities from their big windows in some places.
