Let's see Bertrand Russel's History of Western Philosophy (read it before and it isn't great, but it's nice to have a copy so I can show people what is wrong with it), his essay on Political Ideals, his essay on Bolshevik Russia. The 20th Century Philosophy hcompilation of early Analytics (Wittgenstein, Moore, Russel) A couple other histories of Western Philosophy (which are better than Russel's) by various authors. A nice hardcover of Machiavelli's The Prince (my third copy), Machiavelli's The Art of War. AND the book about which I'm MOST excited, Feminist Interpretations of Thomas Hobbes (which isn't so much a book as it is a collection of secondary literature).
From my dear cousin's family meal, which they kindly invited me to join them in, indigestion / a mild bout of food poisoning. I should not have had the turkey... But it was nice to be welcomed by them. From my kids (I suspect my ex chose the gifts), some new towels, a nice bath mat, and a greatly oversized pink tee shirt, which I will never wear in public - not because it's pink, but because it's so large I can almost use it a dressing gown - but which is very comfortable for wearing at home.
An order to vacuum our basement Lolz but I got a laptop on Monday that's serving as my Christmas present.
A 13" Macbook Air, a few nice books (including 1950s copy of La Fontaine's fables with hideous marbled covers and Chekhov's the Shooting Party) and an aversion to sugar that I don't imagine will be gone any time soon.
My mom always gives the best gifts. This year she got me the WOW! gift set from lush I got some Derwent inktense pencils from my brother (aka another present from my mom :lol My dad and stepmother were pretty cool his year too. Not sure what's going on there, but I got: •a huge, fluffy comforter •a rain repellant Carhart hoody •some candy •$100 Amazon giftcard (Woohoo! I can buy my textbooks!) •$25 McDonalds giftcard •$35 iTunes gift card •And is anyone looking for a Buffalo Wild Wings giftcard?
A samsung smartphone, quite simple but still very functional. I didn't have one and my grandpa consistently insisted in giving me one, now I'm an addict X_X. and a parfum. My cousin also gave me monster hunter 3G a month ago for the 3DS but I didn't have time to play as I was in my finals. I borrowed him my 3DS and hes been playing since then. I'm still stuck with college and research stuff so its still with him lol. I take all those things as bonuses. What I really want in Christmas is peace and a family meeting that is warm and welcoming.
A new laptop!! :eusa_danc My old one was getting pretty bad so I'm glad I got one before it broke completely. I feel bad getting expensive gifts though. A shirt and a few hoodies 2 books Some socks and a hat A little revolving globe thing Some flannel sheets with cats on them Some gift cards A few little miscellaneous things like chocolate and post its, etc.
Some practical clothing items: Purple fleece jacket, Long sleeve white and purple striped top, Short sleeve black and purple striped top, Fleecy Superman pj bottoms and purple dotty pj bottoms* Warm furry white tiger animal hat, Some not as practical clothing items: Kitten socks, Leggings with kittens ALL OVER THEM, A sparkly red dress, Books, A DVD which may need to be returned as it looks like they've put the wrong discs inside. Two cuddly toy cats. A sparkly cat necklace. A novelty meerkat cat money box. A snow globe. *If anyone is wondering about the abundance of purple, I believe this is because I had my eye on a digital camera of this colour but told mum to wait till after Christmas sales to get a better price, I believe this is her way of overcompensating!
Lol! When my cat was alive, every year she would wait until she saw us sitting down to open presents then rush to her litter tray and leave us a big smelly 'gift' to stink out the room
