I enjoy most games like this. Rise of Nations, Command and Conquer, and even Civilization. I tend to go with the Germans or Russians.
Yeah I'm a big fan of this. Waiting to buy the Brave New World expansion when it comes on sale on Steam. 153 hours played on this game to date :icon_redf
Waiting to get BNW & G&K in a Steam sale before I go at it again. Quite like the look of some of the Final Fantasy related stuff that's on the Workshop too. Also George Washington > Everyone, even Churchill.
I made a thread about Civ awhile ago. It does tend to be an addiction lol. I've preferred playing as the Romans or Chinese, although I've also dabbled with Japan for their military bonus and Russia for resources.
Nearly 900 hours. :icon_sad: America is a bloody powerhouse in the game. The best strategy I've found is playing America like a war civilization, almost like Rome plays. If you choose to go that route you can do some major damage. But the Iroquois in this game are just so perfect. Difficult to master but so great once you get the flow of them. The MoHawk warriors are so powerful.
In fact, I have Civ V on my shelf right now. I usually go with America or Japan. ...I've been pwned by Gandhi and his nukes more than a few times.
Wait, really?! Gandhi with nukes? I've never had that. Gandhi has never been anything but annoying. In my games he always seems to have only two cities, a minuscule population and weak ass military but he STILL declares war. He always says "I may not be able to defeat you but as least I can send a message" or something. Every. Single. Game. And I beat him. Every. Single. Game. Like wtf is Gandhi's problem.
^ Oh, yes. Gandhi with nukes. Gandhi (Civ5) - Civilization He is literally off the charts when it comes to nukes.
370 hours into it. Great game, but I'm ready for the next one; I haven't played it probably in a year or so. Personally I preferred IV more.
Civ 4!! Its been a staple on my laptop for years. Although, its just a huge time-sink. Unfortunately my laptop can't really run Civ V. Its pretty much sitting collecting dust in my steam library, awaiting the day when I can play it without excessive lag/overheating.
I'm a big Civ fan. I've only played Civ II (my favorite) and Civ 5, because my uncle's old Windows 98 computer had Civ II and I liked it so much I bought Civ 5. I usually play as the English or Dutch. I've put in about 130 hours since I got it in October. I once finished a Marathon game in only 2 days. I had to stop playing for a while after that because I felt I had a problem.
... over nine hundred hours here, I am embarrassed. It's not super great but the expansions helped sooo much! A lot of those hours are sitting around and doing other things waiting for load times in mid - late game though. I'm trying to win as each civ once but I have a soft spot for Nebuchadnezzar II and Pacal. I don't know if I've ever gone the war/domination route cause I want to but I always fall into the science/diplomacy pattern, oops..
I love CIV and other Strategy games! They take so long though! My sister and I sometimes pull all nighters playing.
I used to be a major civ fan, but when I discovered the more in depth and complex paradox titles like Europa universallis I stopped playing it so much.
It's a fun game. But I'm missing the brave new world expansion. Perhaps it'll be in the Steam summer sales...?
This is what I'm waiting on. I'm always watching the money and I think I can live a few more weeks to save myself £15 if it does get 75% off. Shame there was no spring sale this year. I've got G&K but waiting on BNW the same as you.
