From that picture, I'd say you pass. But one picture might not be enough. A full-body picture may be more accurate, since that's what people are going to see most of the time. How you sound is big also, but you're probably not asking about that. But you have an androgynous face, leaning masculine, so I think your hair fits fine too.
I'd read you as a guy in his teens. For the haircut, I'd go with somthing similar, maybe a bit shorter.
So hey guys, I need some advice too. http://emptyclosets.com/forum/members/48112-albums8675-picture60572.html (miscellaneous album if the link doesn't work) This is how I typically dress. T-shirt, jeans, jacket. The jeans and jacket were made for girls but the shirt's unisex. I don't really have much confidence. I think I look female. But I was gendered male today, although the person gave me a really weird look when I told them I was 17. I'm planning to present as male when I go to college. Y'all think I'll be able to do it? Any tips on what I can change? :/
Thanks to all of you for your replies, it's very uplifting to know that I can get read as male if I want to. I know I can do female, so I'll just experiment a little to find some expression in the middle. You look 100% male to me and evidently that's not just the effect of the picture if you were already gendered correctly in real life. Your face looks quite masculine and the glasses suit you really well. I think you'd look older in slightly less baggy clothes, because the jacket and the shirt are rather long and probably make you look smaller than you are. I'm not sure, but maybe a shorter haircut could make you look older as well. Other than that, I think you will definetely be able to present as male in college!
Nychthemeron, I think you look quite male, but the pants may throw it off slightly because of how your legs look in them; they kind of have a feminine shape. Try wearing more straight legged jeans, and from the men's section.
That means a lot to me, thanks mate. But heh, funny you should mention, I'm actually really small, probably just over 5'0. So I'm planning to shop in the kid's section the next time I get the chance. Not sure how a shorter hair cut is going to work, but I've never gone to a professional barber so I guess that's probably help. I also forgot to comment on yours—you can definitely pull off an androgynous look, if that's what you're aiming for. I would also read you as male, but you'd probably have no problem finding a look that expresses you the best. Good luck nonetheless. That's a relief. I'm with you, my thighs are the main source of my body dysphoria. If I took my jacket off or wore shorter shirts, you'd see all my curves and it sucks lol. That is definitely on my to-do list, thanks a bunch.
Hawk, I have trouble determining your gender. You appear androgynous, which I don't think is bad at all. ---------- Post added 10th Jun 2017 at 01:17 PM ---------- I don't think you pass as male, but you've got attractive angles. ---------- Post added 10th Jun 2017 at 01:19 PM ---------- Also, basically all the women in the past 2-3 pages pass. I'd "ma'am" you if I passed by you
Recently got a new haircut that my Mum only agreed to let me have if it was gender neutral and still had a feminine aspect so this is what I'm currently working with. Surprisingly I've passed a fair few times being referred to as my Mum's son, my brother's brother, and even have been called a gentlemen and Sir in some situations so I know I must have at least some passing ability even if not that much. Should be starting T soon though (a matter of months) so hoping that will help me along. Any tips that could help me though? Thanks!
Cody, you pass for me 100%. I have never seen any girl with that hairstyle, actually. Even your shirt helps. I don't think you have to worry about a thing.
Hey Vincentt, you kind of look like a guy I used to go to school with. I wouldn't read you as anything but male.
