Sophia was a firefighter, not a police officer.

Honestly, I see them as the same thing when it's on TV. Lol.

In real life, I don't, but TV wise, police, fire, detective, it's all the same to me.

Haha I guess I see where you're coming from

I didn't get confused by Sophia's story, but I got a bit confused with Red's. I'm still not entirely sure why she's in prison.

The mob kept what appeared to be bodies (or some a very large amount of drugs) in her store's freezer.

Chances are the mob made them confess to it when they were found out.

This show would have never been made if it was about gay men.

This is kind of a good point.

There seems to be more shows about lesbians (there's also the L word) than gay men. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think lesbians are more generally publicly accepted because they're more sexualized? And (straight) people in general seem to be more uncomfortable with the idea of gay men's relationships (actual relationships between gay men, not just gay men on fashion shows and gay men used as stereotypical props), probably because male homosexuality is unfortunately still widely considered to be too compromising to general notions of "masculinity". idk

I have to agree with this, but it's still a great show.

Though... they make prison out to look a lot better than most people's living conditions. >_>

That's far from a realistic representation of prison though which is what this show is all about.

Oz not only has extremely violent people everywhere in the show, it's placed in the Wizard of Oz's Emerald City. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I think Piper is supposed to be annoying (to whoever said they found her annoying) - she's sort of an anti-character I feel, or whatever the right word is. I feel like the 'real' white-girl to relate to is easily Nichols. Piper is just a hrrrm.. I don't have the words but she's not a character in the traditional sense I feel.

This show is one zillion times better than the L word. Really liked practically everyone except (surprise surprise) - Alex. Sorry but she's such an empty character who has nothing going for her except some supposed coolness based on ...nothing? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I wish they would give her character some...character. She's the only one who has no real back story I feel, the little bit they showed was never developed - maybe more in Season 2.

Really great show other than that!

I don't think you can walk away from the very last episode not being on Piper's side.

    Or without hating Mr Healy.

All the things Benjamin from Lost did, all the really terrible unforgiveable things. And Mr Healy just outdoes all of them just by standing for a few seconds and walking away. All that hate in his eyes was just unreal.

I just watched all 13 episodes this weekend and got netflix because of this show. I LOVE it so very very much. I know it is not realistic but there are elements and moments that are very real and hurrah for having real women not carbon copy women who all look the same with their perfect blond bodies and faces.

My favourites are the Pussauy and Tastyee friendship, Sophia and the nun, the one and only Natasha Lyonne (is she gay in real life? her smile and glint in the eye is the best) and of course the hottness that is Alex and Piper.

Can't wait for the next season to start!
