    1. How long did the questioning phase last for you, if there was one
About two years; I started questioning in sixth grade when I thought I might be transsexual, or wanted to be more like a guy. In seventh grade though I fell for a girl and realized just how much I favored girls (mentally and physically) over boys romantically.

    2. How old were you when you first realized you might not be straight
    Eleven, maybe even ten.

    3. How old were you when you knew for sure you weren't straight (the moment you said to yourself: yeah, I'm not straight/I'm bi/I'm gay, ok."
    I was twelve

    4. How old were you when you actually accepted that
About thirteen; I was in denial for a while but I realized that it wasn't necessarily a bad thing to be gay. Also, for that time I didn't want to accept the feelings that I had for one of my best friends because I was so worried about my relationship afterwards with her- let's just say it's still rocky, but I have at least accepted myself

    5. How old were you when you came out to the first person
Thirteen- my sister (who doesn't really take me seriously, still) and a counselor

    6. How old were you when you came out to several or most people
Thirteen- came out to my mother, sister, counselor, two teachers, and a few friends. I'm still not out to most people, though.

Years. I can't pinpoint how long.

Had transgender thoughts as a 9-10 year old, sexuality thoughts at the age of 12-13. (No, my sexuality/attraction did not play a roll with my trans* feelings at the time.)

12? As bisexual, though. Gay at 16.

    1. How long did the questioning phase last for you, if there was one:
About a year. I never really wondered if I was bisexual. I just wondered why I felt so drawn to girls. When I was 14, I embraced the realization and began telling close friends.

    2. How old were you when you first realized you might not be straight:

Well, I was 11 when I started having small crushes on women, even teachers. I didn't even know what a lesbian was until I was 12. But 13 is when I realized I might like girls. I was 14 when I realized I do like girls. But at that time, I was out as bisexual. I still am out as bisexual. Only my sister and EC knows that I'm leaning more toward lesbian.

    3. How old were you when you knew for sure you weren't straight:

    14.

    4. How old were you when you actually accepted that:
14, lol. I accepted it right away. I was never really ashamed of it to myself. I'm only ashamed of it with my family. They have no idea, and they will probably never know.

    5. How old were you when you came out to the first person:
    14.

    6. How old were you when you came out to several or most people:

14 is when I came out to about 5 people. I was 16 when I came out to a dozen of people. Now even more people know.

I first started questioning at 15 or 16, but thought I wasn't gay and assumed I was straight for the few years after that. I didn't really question myself again until I had the epiphany I am, in fact, not straight.

Again, 20. I pretty much accepted myself right after I realized I'm gay. Coming out was an entire different story though.

I'm 22 now and almost out. Just need to tell one or two friends, and eventually my parents. I dread that day. Even though I know they'll be accepting, they will also be slightly "disappointed" cause I don't fit "the norm".

About a year. I freaked out because I thought I might be bisexual, and then I realized I'm just gay XD

    2. How old were you when you first realized you might not be straight.

Very young, but it was mostly pushed out of my mind until around 13 or 14.

    3. How old were you when you knew for sure you weren't straight (the moment you said to yourself: yeah, I'm not straight/I'm bi/I'm gay, ok."

    When I was 16.

    4. How old were you when you actually accepted that.

    16

    5. How old were you when you came out to the first person.

February 3, 2013. I was 16, and it was to my dad. He took it pretty bad.

    6. How old were you when you came out to several or most people.

After I told my dad, I slowly came out to pretty much everyone except some family.

It will be easier for me to answer this as one short story than by the numbers, so here goes: When I was 37, during an argument with my (now ex) husband, he asked me what I really wanted in a mate. I don't remember what all I answered, but I remember clearly his look of disgust as he said "we'll, you don't want ME. I think you want a WOMAN!" I was stunned, because what he said really stuck me hard - as being true. It felt so absolutely right. I wanted to laugh and cry. Suddenly he and his anger didn't even matter. I was gay. No wonder that even though I was on my third marriage and had two kids, I was so unhappy and unsatisfied. That was why I never could sustain a relationship with a man. I really accepted it immediately. When I finally was in a relationship with a woman, and kissed her for the first time, it was incredible. My only regret was I didn't figure it out sooner.

It was probably a year or so later when I came out to my dad (my mom had died a few years earlier). Dad's health wasn't good, and it was part of my routine to take him to doctor visits, cut his hair, trim his nails and other caregiving. I started out awkwardly, saying "Dad, you know my roommate Jane? Well, she's not really my roommate. We're a couple." He harrumphed a bit, then said "does that mean if you're busy, she'll take me to the doctor or the grocery store? Would she cut my hair and nails?" I told him she might not do his toenails, but I was pretty sure she'd do the rest. He said, "ok then" and went on to talk of other things.

As for friends, as I came out to them, I heard from more than a few, "I always wondered when you were going to figure it out!"

I think it was relatively easy because I was older, and it was a huge positive change in my life. It made lots of issues in my younger days become clear, and it was a relief to just be ME.

So... It all happened in my late 30s. And the last 20 years have been the best so far.

    1. How long did the questioning phase last for you, if there was one.

I questioned my asexuality for about a year before I realized I was gay.

    2. How old were you when you first realized you might not be straight.

To me, I never was afraid to admit to myself that I wasn't interested in girls. I was just horrified at the prospect that I could be gay. So, I'd say around 10 or so?

    3. How old were you when you knew for sure you weren't straight (the moment you said to yourself: yeah, I'm not straight/I'm bi/I'm gay, ok."

    I thought I was asexual when I was 12; I thought I could be gay at 13.

    4. How old were you when you actually accepted that.

I was 14 when I accepted that I was gay.

    5. How old were you when you came out to the first person.

Again, 14, after 6 months of keeping it to my self.

    6. How old were you when you came out to several or most people.

When I turned 15 I really started to turn up the dial.
