Google can't find anything that says he supports anything vaguely against LGBT rights and equal laws I found a cool video, he sounds like a nice president. Barack Obama on Gay Marriage - YouTube
Hehehehehe interesting mash-up of videos. And yeah people wonder why I love Obama? This is why. He's done more for LGBT rights in the USA than any other man in the office of the President.
I'm independent, and far from a single-issue voter. Although one's gay rights record is pretty far down on my list, I still do consider it at the ballot box. If it came down to Santorum vs. Obama, I think the choice would be pretty obvious. Other GOP candidates...maybe not so much. Still, I give credit where credit's due.
Is he perfect? Not at all. But he had a lot on his plate stepping into office... I wish he would have done MORE for the GLBT community, but he's done more than most would have done, and I think the economy and such is a bit more important. Maybe he'll focus more on social issues if he gets another round. :] He's decent enough that I'd give him a second chance.
I feel like term two Obama would be a more aggressive in tackling LGBT issues. He most likely believes in marriage equality although political pressure makes him adopt a more centrist approach.
You can have him. There is only one person that is truly thrilled to have him as President (other than some of you here) and that is Jimmy Carter..because he is actually making his administration look good. Look, there is no doubt that Obama is a good man, a good father and a good family man. But as a President he's been lousy. From a leadership perspective...he has been MIA From an economic standpoint...he has been clueless. And this is not just ol' cranky conservative RedState spouting this...this is coming directly from longtime Democratic staffers and operatives I know on Capitol Hill. You want to know the one person in that entire Administration that actually strongly advocates LGBT issues on a consistent basis? The one person that is actually pressing the Administration to take a greater leadership role...and someone who recently gave a great speech about it? Hillary Clinton. I've got a lot of new found respect for her. If there is anyone you need to thank, it is her.
