There is a movie premiering on January 24th on Lifetime called "Prayers for Bobby" and it's about a Christian mother not accepting her gay son until it's too late. I can't wait to see this movie and I also heard there's a book by the same title.

You might be able to find it online after the movie is released.

I really want to see it too. When I first saw the commercial it was 2 weeks ago, so I was thinking it was premiering that day and I was disappointed when I saw it was coming out at the end of January. I'm too impatient to wait.

Thanks for the reminder Gerry! The book was excellent. We have a couple copies in our PFLAG library and it is a must-read for every Christian parent struggling with their child's sexual orientation. I can't wait to see the movie!

  9. I saw the commercial for this on Lifetime. I probably won't watch it cause it looks like it's gonna be sad and sad movies don't do much for me.

Holy sh*t. I almost started to tear up...

    I WILL see it. Thanks.

I usually don't get to see tv and then when I do it isn't lifetime. (Man hater channel. haha. Sorry, joke between me and dad.) I do enjoy lifetime movies when I see them I just never really go OUT of my way to do so. This one will def be an exception.

I'll be watching, too. It'll be cool knowing that all of you will be,too. Kinda like a big group hug! I saw the previews and wrote it on my calendar to remind me.
Maybe we can all write how this movie made us feel. I think it would be a great thread.

I absolutely hate Lifetime. I'm debating whether I'll see this or not.

To those who have read the book, would you recommend getting it for my parents when i come out to them? I am so going to see this movie, perhaps by myself, hopefully with a friend and maybe with a glass of vino.

It is an excellent book for parents. The movie is made for TV. Its on the Lifetime Channel next Saturday, the 24th.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the movie on the front cover of The Scene magazine when I opened my newspaper yesterday. Sigourney had a PFLAG button on! (!)(!)(!)
