So, I’ve really felt the itch as of late to have a girlfriend. Specifically a girlfriend for some reason. Idk why. But, I’ve never dated before so I’m a bit clueless. Should I try any dating apps or dating websites to find someone? Or not? I’ve heard that some are okay and some are not, but idk if I should even try to begin with. And, if I should, which ones do you guys recommend?
I feel you! I have never dated either and am nervous about using a dating app or site. I don't really know how much good luck people have had on various apps but I know that HER is a big app with lesbians right now. Apparently it is designed more for women so it makes it easier to filter out men I guess if that's not what you're look for.
I've been using an app/site for a few years now, and I've never been able to get passed the initial greetings and meet up with the person. There are a few apps/sites that are better than others, unfortunately we're not allowed to mention any due to EC's Code of Conduct. You can't go wrong making an account on one of the apps/sites, if you don't like it, or it's not for you, you can always delete or deactivate the account.
Just give it a shot, you got nothing to lose. It’s good to put yourself out there. My only advice would to not have expectations when it comes to dating apps. You will be disappointed. People have found their partners on apps too, so just be clear on your intentions for using the apps.
Thanks, everyone! I'm sorry; I didn't know that mentioning specific dating sites or apps is against the Code of Conduct. I appreciate the advice.
If you want, here's EC's Code of Conduct: http://emptyclosets.com/home/pages/welcome/code-of-conduct.php The staff basically doesn't want it's members to give out any off-site contact on the public forums due to creeps or stalkers finding a persons personal information. However, you can share this kind of information via personal message, though PMs are only available to Full Members.
I just wanted to add, that if you are looking for a dating app/site. There are some sites/apps that are ranked either by popularity or quality on Google. You just have to be specific if you want an LGBT one or not. A lot of them are directed at straight people.
i met my current partner four years ago on #######. have also made great friends and dated people from tumblr.
I would like to remind everyone that mentioning dating apps and websites by name is against our Code of Conduct, like Hawk explained. You may discuss the subject, but don't recommend/mention specific apps/sites.
My own personal experience is they rarely work. They are not a quick way to meet people either. One of the problems with them is you can't tell if you will have chemistry with the person in real life.
They can be hit or miss. I met my current bf on one and we have been together for 3 years. If you're patient enough to filter through the weirdos then you can find someone you click with
