Hi all, We're back! Firstly, I want to apologise for the delay in getting the site live again. I appreciate we had to push it back numerous times beyond the initial 24 hours, but the large-scale nature of this project meant that there was a lot to migrate over, and then check the settings of. Everything still isn't done now, but we are at a stage where we can (hopefully) operate in a functional manner with minimal to no inconveniences to you all. We are also aware that certain aspects of the site aren't operational at this point, such as the Chat Room and Full Membership Applications. However, please be assured that these haven't been overlooked, but are instead being staggered so that we can focus on launching important features and dealing with any issues which may arise. They will be joining us shortly. Secondly, please be vigilante of any bugs and document them either in this thread, or in the Help and Feedback section. Whilst we have been thorough with our testing, something may have been missed due to there being so much to keep track of. Thirdly, I want to thank all of the staff and beta testers for all of their support, patience and contributions during this staggered migration. Your contributions have been exceptional and really helped ensure we got the site running smoothly on the new platform. Fourthly, I want to thank you all for being so patient with this launch. I can imagine some of you may have wanted to chuck chairs at us for pushing the dates back over and over, but we appreciate your understanding and support during this monumental task. Hopefully, you will feel that the time and effort it has taken to get this sorted is worth it, and that your EC experience is improved by this upgrade. Finally, I want to give a bazillion and one thanks to Dillon, our tech admin who pretty much oversaw all aspects of this migration, and patiently dealt with mine and Chip's silly questions without ever once shouting or smacking us. This upgrade would never have happened as smoothly as it did if it wasn't for him, nor would things be running so well straight out of the box. His expert skills and tireless patience has been hugely appreciated! Anyways, welcome to the new EC. Martin.
I love this new version of the site so much more!!! You guys did an amazing job. Looking forward to using the new site
This looks fantastic! When I joined back in January, I remember thinking it looked like a chat room from the early 2000's
Hey I have a quick question regarding wall posts. Is it no longer possible to write on regular members walls? I received a message from a regular member between logging out and the update but when I go to there profile ther isn't an option to write a message. I know we can't PM
This might not make that big of a difference to anyone, but I noticed there is no bar that pops up when "Other" is chosen for sexual orientation. Perhaps one could be added for those who wish to elaborate on their orientation?
Yes, thank you for all the hard work on the update. Dunno if this is a bug or not part of this version, but you used to be able to hover the mouse pointer over a thread to see a little pop-up showing the first sentence of it, but that doesn't seem to be working. There used to be a check mark that I had replied to a thread. Is there still an indication that a member commented in a thread? This was useful to see which ones I had commented in. Maybe there's a list of changes somewhere that would answer these questions. If there's a better way to ask such questions, please let us know. Obviously these are not urgent things, just curious and getting used to the new version. Thanks again for all the hard work people put in on EC on this and all year round!
By chance, are you accidently using the "conversation" option? That is what PM's are called on this platform.
Maybe haha, so by any chance do you know how I write on a regular members wall? I'm like a newbie again.
I believe you now see a small picture of your avatar by threads you have posted in. As for the other points you raised, I think it'll be a learning process for all of us, at least in the short term. Thanks for your feedback! Together we'll get everything running smoothly.
Are you using a script blocker or something like that? I can see a preview of the thread when i mouse over the title.
Erm did you just send me a message? Haha I'm having some retarded don't know how to work new things issues and I don't want you to think I'm ignoring you haha. If you didn't then carry on as you were.
@mnguy As Chirop mentioned, this should already happen when you hover over a thread. If anything, it should now show more than just the first line, and appears to be working fine on my end? Not an icon, per se, but the thread title does now change from a bold blue to a black once it has been read. Your alerts should notify you of threads you get replied/tagged in, and content pages should allow you to keep track of replies which may not get a reply. A thread will also shift back to being bold blue if a new reply is received after yours so that it stands out again.
