As in actually, how white are you? Whether or not you include Latin is up to you. I'll probably do this for other races too, but one at a time.
Yeah, I could be anywhere between 67% and 82%. ---------- Post added 28th Nov 2016 at 11:57 PM ---------- Thank you for taking the time to do the poll.
No, it comes from my paternal grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents. Very roughly 9.5% so 91% is about right.
I'm 100% Hispanic, but breaking it down would be hard. I would say 25% is a safe, conservative guess, but I'd probably need some form of DNA test. I would say I'm probably 50% Native Amerindian and 50% Spanish/white/North African (the Moors). That said, you can guess, and your guess is as good as any. I know my grandparents and my dad's side of the family all had census forms dating back to the 1800s that listed them as "white," but that's about all I know. ---------- Post added 29th Nov 2016 at 01:07 AM ---------- Voted for 21-30%. While I look "Hispanic" in the US, I wonder how I'd be perceived outside of the Americas .
Entirely white, but not Anglo. So it's only my name that really distinguishes me from what Australians tend to designate as "pure" white.
I'm pretty(quite) white. So much so, my doctor thinks I might be anaemic based on my appearance. It's interesting because I get asked if I'm sick far more often when I'm out with my mum, than with my dad by others. My mum has a slightly darker skin tone than me, but not by much. I know I'm 1/12 Irish on my dad's side (the freckles and the few strands of ginger I have in my otherwise dirty blonde hair certainly show that :icon_wink), but my mum's side is a bit more vague. I'm mostly English though. Spoiler We think there might be some French on my mum's side, but we don't really know and if we do that'd be going a long way back into the family tree. I know I was once asked if I was Caribbean, which I was not expecting at all. Their reasoning was that my hair looks quite thick and wavy, so they wondered if I had a different father to my sister. Which lead to some embarrassing/amusing comments by my mum "Well, so far I haven't met any handsome or dashing men from the Caribbean, and I think I'd remember if I did". Dammit Mum. :roflmao: My sister's hair texture is quite different (hers is straighter and looks thinner), but other than that we look similar (except she has blue eyes, and I have light brown). Also, this thread made me think of this:
I guessed 91%-99%, simply because I have Dutch and Ukranian ancestry. I don't know enough about my heritage to claim something like 100%.
100% white as far as I know and persistent mild anemia. I've researched my ancestors to some level. I'd take a DNA test (want to satisfy morbid curiosity about health) if I didn't think people might use it against me
My father is three quarters Native American, his mother was half Scottish - half Lakota Blackfoot (not to be mistaken for the bloods tribe of the far north, they aren't Lakota/ Sioux at all), and his father was full blood Lakota Oglala. My mother is a lot of German, Irish and English with possible Italian mixed in there at some point. So I think that would make me somewhere around 30-40 ish white? shrugs
I'm 100% Hispanic as well, yet I don't particularly "look" Hispanic. I have lighter skin (though I'd probably classify it as "olive") and lighter hair than most Hispanic people I know (my eyes are also blue), even more so than my twin brother who has more of the stereotypical Hispanic look. Yet I often remind people that not all Mexicans have black hair and swarthy skin (nothing wrong with that!) yet sometimes my surname ending in -ez is the only thing that gives away my heritage given my unconventionally Mexican appearance. On questionnaires of race I always give "Hispanic/Latino" as my answer and not white, despite the fact that going by skin alone, I'm no darker than an Italian or Spaniard and they would be "white", and of course most of my heritage ultimately stems from Europeans (European immigrants to Mexico). It's an interesting question.
Half my family is Italian, and that's the predominant features I have. My mom's side is mostly Norwegian.
I mean, I don't know? I don't have a family tree lined up. But my mother's side of the family is extremely white. Or at least they came from English noblemen who were no doubt whiter than a white-board. My dad's side is the question though. Estimated at 91-99%. Though I myself am completely white.
No one is literally 100% white. But I chose 91-99. Ethnic-wise and in actual skin color I am really light.
