Today two guys guessed my age to be 17. Yes I look 3 nearing 4 years younger than I am. That would be a put off for a potential bf. it's really funny, in high school I looked older due to me being very wild in appearance, now I look younger. I'm a weird boy with so much random stuff like this.
I know what that's like. People still don't believe I'm 25. I got shafted on a job recently; spent 12 hours hauling logs and only got paid $7 an hour because the guy who paid me thought I was 17. Worked my ass off harder than most of the guys there; everyone else got paid $10-12. 12 hours of work for less than $80 pay. So great, I'll look good when I'm 40, but right now it would be nice to actually look my age.
Lol yup, my dad old me that people think that I'm 14, but I guess it makes sense considering my tiny bit of facial hair and almost no muscle.
From what I've noticed, trans guys tend to look younger. People think I'm like a 10 year old guy sometimes.
To be honest, I think there's a big difference between being 14 and looking 10, or being in your mid-20s and still getting mistaken for a teenager. I'm surprised I'm even allowed to buy alcohol without something thinking my ID's a fake.
It's annoying as hell sometimes, but ultimately a good thing. I get asked if I'm 18 a lot. I think it's because I'm short.
Yeah. Trans guys who aren't on T look super young, like 10 - 12 when in reality they're like 18 - 22. It probably is the smaller build, lack of muscle/facial hair, high voice, as well as the facial structure that make people assume such. But hey, at least you're passing as a guy?
Well, I've been working on my build (and have made noticeable progress), and as to the voice, nope. I've always had a lower-pitched voice, and since realizing I'm trans I've been speaking in an even lower pitch, which is probably a subconscious thing on my part. And I've never had a girlish face. Suppose that probably gives me an advantage when I can eventually transition. Unfortunately, not yet. I'm still in a position where outwardly trying to pass for a guy isn't an option. So aside from the fact that I dress, talk, and act like a guy, I'm not actively living as a male yet. I hear you. I'm not even in a position where that's an option yet.
Great. Baby steps bro. I was actually talking to Cody, but hey. You'll get there one day. You're destined to pass eventually.
Oh you were? XD Well, I don't pass terribly well, but when I do I think people assume that I'm younger. One day... (Sorry Justinian, the trans guys have trans-jacked the thread)
Don't worry Cody, I like promoting discussion between people. So you can Trans jack this thread all you want.
I'm used to people thinking I look younger, so it can really stick in my memory when folk think I'm near my biological age. I remember when I was 17 (I couldn't have looked older than 14) I paid the under 18's fee for bus trip, and the driver said "Well, you're obviously lying. But whatever". I was anxious about my safety ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It was ok in my 20s. It wasn't too uncommon or surprising. Now that I'm 30, I feel like it is off-putting to a lot of guys. Some people look young, but you can still tell they're adults. Then you have people like me that could still pass for high school. XD I don't think me being skinny helps either, makes me look even more like a kid. About to cut off all my hair, that usually helps a little. XD
Yeah, that occurred to me almost an hour after I posted this. :eusa_doh: Goes to show that maybe I shouldn't be posting when I'm tired. At least you've still got plenty of time. At only 14 you're still maturing; depending on how early you start to transition, you should be able to pass just fine when you're older. I think I heard that it tends to be harder to pass the older you get.
I'll probably be thirty and look high school age as well. I'm skinny, short and my face is youthful. All those combined with more feminine features make me look like a very young boy. My voice though it's really deep and gravelly. Which means it don't fit my look. I think it's more common that women look younger in comparison to men. Just cause masculine features tend to help you look older, while feminine features help you look younger. Also in relation to Trans men and Trans women it's similar as biologically Trans men have more feminine features so therefore most of you guys will look younger while Trans women will look older rather than yoyounger due to masculine features occasionally though it might just happen that the person is youthful. In that case I'm going to travel to the fountain of youth to discover their secrets. Also this proves if you want to pass and look more masculine or feminine as a Trans man or Trans woman it's better to start younger as you will not have developed those biological features. I think exceptions to the rule are prominent and numerous enough that this is really a theoretical work and can be used to promote discussion on why some people may look younger or older or even their age.
