What are some movies you really liked, but that weren't very popular or generally liked by the public?

For me: After Earth, Neverwas, Sunshine, and *The Dark Knight Rises

*I suppose this doesn't really count for being "unpopular" but many people have spewed hate on it... I loved it though.

I totally agree with you on The Dark Knight Rises. I also kinda have a soft spot for the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels and, like you, I love Sunshine.

Batman & Robin, The Expendables 3, Live Free or Die Hard, basically every "bad" Arnold movie.

One that I liked was Doom, everyone crapped on that movie but I liked it.

The other was Blade: Trinity, I loved that movie and Ryan Reynolds is such a hottie. I liked this one more than the previous two to be honest.

    Oh and Terminator: Salvation.

    Lady in the Water.

Semi-obscure, quirky, and directed by the infamous M. Night Shyamalan.
I don't know why I like that movie. Really not my usual cup of tea at all.

Waterworld. Apparently it was a flop and it has a low popular score but I thought it was awesome.

The Green Hor net*, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, basically all the Disney LA movies that get treated like fluff (because they are fluff, but sometimes fluff is good).

I do actually like the Star Wars prequel trilogy but the fx are just so disappointing compared to the originals.

    (*EC is censoring hor net...)

Equilibrium, despite it's plot holes and heavy handed message.
    The Time Machine.

I really like Life Aquatic. It's a strange film, even most Wes Anderson fans don't like it... but I think it's pretty awesome.

Pacific Rim. Apparently a lot of people didn't like it for some reason.

Interstellar! I adored it but most people I know didn't. I love black holes and the pipe organ soundtrack probably played a role too...

And no, not that kind of black holes...

I love Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean World's End, which I thought was the best of the movies personally.

Im waiting for someone to say The Last Airbender   But I guess no one really liked that movie

Batman Forever. People say its really bad but I do like watching it! Hmmm, maybe just because of Poison Ivy.... Nah, I really think it's a good film
After Earth. I like the film but hate Jaden
Adam Sandler's RomCom movies. Please dont judge! I find them funny. And his voice <3

This year from this year I really liked Chappie even though most didn't. The movie did have a lot of flaw, but I felt what worked in the movie overshadowed them.

Now this isn't necessarily a disliked movie as much of a forgotten/under appreciated movie, but I LOVE Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I feel that about 75% of people who were born after 2000 haven't even seen the movie. Which is a shame as its much better than most of Disney's recent movies. I feel that most of the movies that came out during the Disney Renaissance still have legions of fans and this is the one exception. Hopefully they make a broadway adaptation it will lead to the movie getting discovered by younger generations.

It's because it was a little mature for children at the time. I never liked it when I was a kid, but I watched it on a whim when I was older and I found it to be brilliant.
