I mostly chose my name because it was what my parents were going to name me if I was "a girl". Megan. It also just seemed to fit me perfectly and fit my personality as well. As for my chosen middle name, Amethyst, I chose that for different reasons. One, purple is my favorite color; two, amethysts are really pretty crystals; and three, Amethyst is just such a pretty, girly name.
Only first name, got it from a good friend of mine who suggested it and I liked it a lot. Though some of my other friends tell me it have a bad reputation of being a porn star name, so that worries me a bit even if I really love my new name =/
I know this is for people who already use their new name. Well I've chosen Aliceandra, becoz it's wat my mum had picked out if I was born a girl...and I think it's pretty :3.
I chose Sera. Dunno why. It's just a name I've used for RPG characters for a long time and it feels right. I figure I'll just slide my given name over to middle, change it a bit, and throw out the old one. Never liked my middle name, anyway. So I'm Sera Alexandra. I think that sounds good. :icon_bigg
For me, my name wasn't really a one I personally chose, it actually started out as a joke between me and my close friend. There is this Finnish song we sang all the time because it was damn hilarious at the time and there's this one line "Tommia ei kiinnosta" which is roughly translated "Tommi is not intrested." My friend started to sing that line in the same tone as in the song whenever I seemed uninterested in something and pretty much everytime I did something. And then, they just started to call me Tommi all the time and it just felt so right. Over the time the i just changed to y and ta-daa, Tommy it is. What makes this quite interesting is that I didn't know I'm trans at the time, I just had this feeling of maleness which I never really expressed directly to my friend.
It was all very practical really, predicated on fitting in. I found a list of names popular from my birth year and went through them, picking out the ones I liked. Then I put them in context with my mother's name and my sisters name to see which fit best. Once I started using that name, it really 'fit' me, unlike the other potential choices. By sheer co-incidence it is also a variant of my paternal grandmother's name, which worked out nicely since my old middle name was my paternal grandfather's name.
My names I mostly picked because they just felt right to me and sounded right. And I chose two middle names because my birth name has 2 middle names. Lucas Gabriel Tristan (and my last name is staying secret ;P)
Well, ya know, you're not exactly born male until a certain point in the womb. Roseline Susanne (first and first middle name): I like these two names...they're pretty and elegant, and every time one of my friends call me Rose, I blush a bit inside :icon_redf
My middle name is Charlene, so Charlie sorta stemmed from that. It can technically be a girl or boys nickname, so it is logical. It was between "Charlie" and "Henry" had I been born male my parents were going to name me Henry, but I know someone named Henry, so Charlie won over all the rest.
I just stuck with my given name, which is Jade. I'd like to go by Jay, but that's my dad's nickname. I dunno. I just haven't really given it too much thought. My mom almost named me Nicolette when I was born, so I think I dodged a bullet, although Nick sounds cool. I dunno. Like I said, I didn't give much thought to it, but I'd like my middle name to be Nathan. Kinda weird, but even though I was only an insurance agent for two weeks, the guy who trained me, whose name is Nathan, made a huge impression on me. He even inspired my first tattoo. ---------- Post added 22nd Jan 2014 at 08:06 PM ---------- I guess Nathan means "God has given/will give". Well, I definitely got something. Not sure I like it.
Clive? Christopher? Which one should I pick? Clive is definitely an unambiguously male name, but Christopher is more common. But Christopher could be shortened to Chris, which is neutral... Either way, I'm going with "C" to start with. (I did consider "Kristoph" at one point, but...):help: Middle name? Lawrence. I dunno. I just like that name. [SURNAME REDACTED]
I chose Theodore, because I always loved names with ''or'' in them, and this one fitted me perfectly. (Also, I needed a french name to go with my last name). I don't have a middle name. I frankly don't even know what that is . We don't have that here.
My EC name has a better story behind it. I just like my offline name and someone I respected back in high school had it. But this, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassandra https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassandra_(metaphor) is how I felt when I first started coming out.
I also considered this name, as I idolised a girl at school with this name and desperately wanted to be her.
The short version of my name is genderneutral and I never really thought about my middle name. I go by Jess or Jessie. My middle name is Marie, but since I've heard Marie being used for both males and females I guess it's pretty genderneutral as well.
