It's hilarious. Feel bad for those people (if it's real). DISCLAIMER: Not all Americans are that stupid.
OH. MY. GOD. That's...wow. People sure are stupid. And not just Americans, I'm sure there are people like that everywhere. There are just more of them in the US. XD The whole mixed-up map thing was just freaking ridiculous.
they made my head hurt that has to be fake ...nobody can be that ignorant and still allowed outside by themselves.
"Just think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of them are even stupider!" - George Carlin
The question here is what percentage of the overall sample does this represent. If a third or more of the people they interviewed were this stupid, and they made some attempt to get a random sampling, then we're fucked. On the other hand, if they had to interview 100 people to find the handful of dumbasses on this video, then it's a different story. However, I'm inclined to believe that if you go most anywhere in the US, and ask those series of questions, you would probably find 25% of the people at least that would give equally ignorant answers.
As much as that? In terns of geography and travel I think it's fair to say most American's are not as clued up as European's. But at least a 1/4 being that ignorant would surprise me.
It all makes sense now o: I do think they just used the stupidest possible answers they had. But I also believe at least 25% percent of people would give the answer just as ignorant. I know this is fact. You know how many people in my AP History classes couldn't find common counties? Okay, let me just repeat some of the questions I remember off the top of my head, and I will not post two questions from the same person: 1. Where's the UK? 2. What's the UK? 3. Where's Ireland? 4. Where's South Africa? 5. Is this Africa? *points to China* 6. I'm pretty sure this is Canada, right? *points to Brazil* 7. I have no idea where Russia is, do you? 8. Where's Japan? 9. Where's Australia? 10. I can't find Idaho anywhere. Can someone help? I know it's in this region..*circles Middle East* 11. Germany is the country that looks like a boot, right? 12. VATICAN CITY IS A COUNTRY? I THOUGHT IT WAS A CITY IN THE US! 13. Who's Hitler? (I know this isn't geography related, but I had to include it) 14. Where's Ohio? (I live in Ohio..) 15. Oh wow! Egypt looks like a boot! (They were referring to Italy's shape) All those where actually over a 2 year period. But still, it's sad that those people got into an advanced placement history class. :| I mean, maps aren't hard. I mean..they're easier for me because I have a photographic memory, I can map out the borders of most European, Asian, American (South and North), and Africa countries correctly, along with multiple ones in Oceania. But still, it's not that hard at all. It's grade school.
I actually know people that are that dumb, this one girl i know thinks that Puerto Rico is right under Alaska way on the other side of the U.S.
