That's so cool! Congratulations to her! I remember her from the late 90s. I love the song "Single White Female." XD
I'm obviously a bit late to post, but I just wanted to add that she's still getting a lot of publicity. She did a very emotional interview on Oprah yesterday, and will be appearing on Ellen next Thursday. Her story has really touched and inspired me. I'm so glad she stepped forward and decided to come out. I hope that this has a long-term impact on the homophobia in country music. I've been a fan of hers for several years, but even more so now with her new CD. It's amazing. She blends country and indie so well. Give it a listen.
I just watched this on my DVR. Now I'm all teary. Chely's Dad is the perfect PFLAG dad. We need to recruit him! lol He just has so much unconditional love for his daughter and what he said about not closing doors on our gay children but instead opening our hearts to them was just beautiful. I'm very proud of Chely. Coming out in the country music scene would be really hard. The majority of them are conservative, Christian. Republican.... When Garth Brooks did the fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign he took so much heat for that and he's not even gay. He just has a gay sister. I just have a huge admiration for Chely right now! Good for her!
