1. The biggest change in your life this year?

I came out to my parents and some other people!

Studied abroad in Berlin!

Ha. Ha. Ha... hahahahahaHAHAHA. None. One faker. And one really bad crush... I miss him so much.

4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2008?

Um, the U.S. economy tanking.

Erm, a lot. Don't really have a favorite.

Coldplay fo' sho.

7. Did you make any new years resolutions and if so, did you stick to them?

Uh, well I did go to the gym a lot the first half of the year, then my routine kinda tanked starting in May after school got out and I never got back into it in August.

8. What are you most proud of personally this year (i.e.- something you have done)?

Living alone in a foreign country after only studying the language for a few months was pretty awesome. And coming out.

9. Who are you most proud of (can be a famous or non- famous person)?

All the Prop8 protestors... everyone came together. It was kind of a good thing that it passed because now we have organization and spirit.

10. Did you have to learn any hard life lessons in the past 12 months?

Oh yeah. A lot.

11. Have you had any life- changing experiences in 2008?

Yeah, of course. Every year.

12. Did you do anything you never thought you would do?

Yup.

13. Did you gain any new qualifications?

Zertifikat Deutsch. Hm, that's about it. Won 10th in some national engineering competition and got onto the university's President's List again.

Getting a car!!! <3 my VW Rabbit.

None, I think. I look stupid when I dance?

16. What things do you appreciate most in your life at the moment?

Everything. There's a lot to be thankful for.

Christmas dinner at neighbors, New Year's Eve party

Come out totally for college, and work out more.

Moving from high school last year to uni this year. Completely different learning environments and lifestyles. A lot more freedom, but a higher level of expectation.

Well, summe rhas just begun and I'm using it to work like hell! Apart from that, a lot of coffee breaks with friends, a lot of going out to dinner, partying, clubbing, excessive EXCESSIVE drinking So basically, working and friends

Hmm, well I broke a man's heart, had many a straight crush and pashed and dashed at a night club

The attacks in Mumbai, because it happened a week or two before my best friend went to India

I coloured my hair blond, I cleaned out my room (although it is now a mess again) and at one point, I cleaned out my comp. So yes, I did most of it

Getting a High Distinction for a 50% project where we had to design a website. This inspired me to do Website Development as my Sub Major

That I need to spend less time drunk, on a coffee high and partying and more on studying if I want to get where I wanna be

Having a birthday party for a girl who doesn't like me, who lives in Sydney and that didn't know about the party. Basically my group wanted a reason to drink and we saw it was her birthday on FaceBook, so we decided to make that the reason. I still have the birthday card we made for her

Doing a fly kick, but lifting both legs...I landed on my butt. Dropping a spoon in a huge cup of coffee. Telling every bartender that they were hot. Singing the Elephant Love Song Medley and El Tango De Roxanne down the main street of Adelaide. I could go on

16. What things do you appreciate most in your life at the moment?

The fact that my parents work hard to give me the best chances in life

Pool part for New Years at a friends house

Quitting my job at a pharmacy, since then I've been sitting around the house, not a productive change but a change nonetheless.

Worked at a pharmacy, went to one helluva awesome party at friends house. Got plastered which is something I've never done before.

A chapbook I made, which is basically a collection of poems I have written.

Finally accepting once and for all that I'm gay and becoming more independent.

Nothing productive, really. I had/have no life.

I love someone who has told me that they love me as well, and he has given me no reason not to believe him. While I can't exactly say we're boyfriends, I'm not complaining, since it is a major improvement over previous years.

Finishing my first year of college and passing my classes of the first quarter of my second year. Seriously, my procrastination has possibly gotten worse in college, but I'm glad that when I take things seriously, I really, really, really get things done.

Well, I can't think of anyone specific, but I am proud of just anyone and everyone that's moving forward in their lives despite how tough things get.

I've learned that I cannot always rely on others, that I need to take care better care of myself, and to not take anything for granted.

I would say that accepting myself, slowly appreciating life more, and being somewhat more open has been life-changing.

Yes. I joined EC. Seriously, since joining, things have been different for me. Before, I had almost decided to live my life as a lie, and to just go on with life dealing with things by myself. And now, while I'm still not out, I'm certainly much more eager to come out, and I've also expressed my feelings to a person or two.

As lame as it is... finding out I got an A in Organic Chemistry. xD

Loved ones, near and far, old and new.

1. The biggest change in your life this year?

Separating from Markie. We should have done so at least 2-3 years ago but both got stuck in a rut. Now it's happened though, and is amicable, it was definitely the right thing for both of us.

2. What did you do over the summer?

Markie and I went on holiday together in September a couple of weeks after we agreed to separate and before he moved out which wasn't great but I think it helped us with establishing the new situation between us.

3. How were relationships with boyfriends/ girlfriends?

Well apart from the separation there have been none. There have been several crushes though, which have been more difficult than they should.

I have met a guy named Christian though who has become a very good friend and is now my lodger/house-mate. It's never going to become any more than good friends because of where he is at in life and what he's looking for (and the age-gap). But we are becoming quite close and we do seem to understand each other very well.

4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2008?

Woolworths going into administration. Markie works for them and this happened just a few weeks after we separated. He'll be without a job from 2nd January. He really didn't need that on top of our separation this year.

He does have something possibly lined up which I really hope works out as it will get him a job in the area where his new boyfriend lives. Fingers crossed for him.

Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, just because it's a good song!

None really. I don't follow current music that much and tend to get sick of things that are over-played on the radio.

I don't remember. I may have said that I need to do something about me and Markie, and if I did then I succeeded.

Yet again, finally getting around to separating from Markie.

Nobody that I can think of right now.

I must not pre-judge people or situations without knowing all the facts. I am too prone to taking something someone says out of context and forming an opinion on just that without clearing up what is actually meant etc.

Well I have gone from having a partner in a tired relationship to a lodger who is a really good friend, so yes!

Unless you count the separation again, which was more a case of "when" rather than "if", then no.

No.

14. What is your happiest memory from the year?

It's been an up-and-down year, especially the last few months. There has been no one specific happiest moment as many of the good ones have been tinged with less-good aspects.

Probably doing that karaoke, which isn't really that stupid. Alcohol was involved...

16. What things do you appreciate most in your life at the moment?

My friends. In particular:

Christian, newly found friend/lodger, who in some ways is just like me and understands me really well, and in other ways is an interesting contrast. I think 2009 is going to be very interesting for both of us.

Nick who I have known for many years. He has always been on the other end of the phone when I needed to chat or vent. I hope we can see more of each other in person next year, though he is very busy currently.

Martin who was the real encouragement for me to finally make that move in starting the separation from Markie. This was around the same time as he came out to his parents. We both encouraged each other and were both there for each other when dealing with the reactions and emotions following them. And I have never actually met him, this is all MSN and texts!

17. What are your plans for xmas/ new year?

Christmas I spent with my mum, sister and sister's kids. New Year will probably be spent at our local gay pub.

18. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2009? What do you hope will be different?

No resolutions. I really want to love again and I hope that will happen, but I obviously don't know.

19. How do you rate 2008 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best)?

It's been an interesting year. A lot has changed in my life, most of it for the best. Though there have certainly been some ups and downs. There is financial worries too, with the current global situation and whether I will be able to keep paying the mortgage and remain solvent.

Overall I am going to give it 7/10.

Yep, stop smoking and start working out until the smoking part got too hard (100% of my friends are heavy smokers) and working out got impossible due to Accutane.

All the party's we started and music production

My big sister and her multi-million € company

10. Did you have to learn any hard life lessons in the past 12 months?
Yep, don't let drugged homeless people into your home or young street thugs.
Be careful in the street when you walk hand in hand with a bf.

11. Have you had any life- changing experiences in 2008?
Meeting my big sister for the 1st time in years, opening a whole world of possibility's.
Meeting all the other great people this year, EC members, my new DJ friends, ex boyfriends.

Yes but I forgot :icon_redf

13. Did you gain any new qualifications?
Not really but I've learned a lot this year.

14. What is your happiest memory from the year?
March was awesome !! Met my 1st bf, met my big sister, met a great EC member and partied all night with him on my 18th birthday (!)

Not sure, I don't often get into stupid situations, there is one but it's VERY embarrassing and NO I will never, EVER talk about it on this forum.

16. What things do you appreciate most in your life at the moment?
The fact that I'm a very lucky person and have nothing to complain about, great family, great friends, money, loads of happy times and adventures

17. What are your plans for xmas/ new year?
This year? Well nothing, I'm stuck in a small old people's village in England, but I'll be meeting some great people soon :icon_wink

18. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2009? What do you hope will be different?
Same as last year basically, stop smoking, start working out again, eat healthier, stop being obsessed with finding a bf; focus on finding a school and producing more music.

Me accepting myself as being who I am.

Do lots of debate training. And I mean LOTS. It was TIRING.

Going fine and dandy so far. And he’s a boyfriend.

4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2008?
The only one I can think of is Obama winning the presidency (although I kinda blame this on reading Martin’s reply. Stupid Martin.)

Goldfrapp perhaps.. And maybe Rihanna, P!nk or Bowling for Soup

One of my last year’s new years resolutions was to stick to my new year’s resolution. And truth be told… I can’t remember the rest. Whoopsie.. lol

8. What are you most proud of personally this year (i.e.- something you have done)?
Coming out to myself and accepting myself and not getting myself killed by actually meeting people from over the net.

My friend who put great effort into his final exams last year and came off with fantastic results.

Oh yes… Oh so so soooo yes…

Well.. I actually met people from over the net, and I almost got myself into sex with a totally random dude, so that counts as a yes. A big yes.

13. Did you gain any new qualifications?
Let’s see… I’m now able to get into Grade 12. Yay me!

Being sure of myself and my sexuality.

15. What was your most stupid incident (drunk stories would be good!)?
Well… Being drunk… And overseas with a few friends… I was on the bed and we were talking crap (I was talking at the top of my voice apparently) while my other (sober) friend was trying his best to sleep (he got mad at me the next day). And you know… I was supposed to be one of the people teaching a group of primary school kids in the village school the next day. The best part is that I then reached down into my pants and started playing about, while my other drunk friend was just in shock.
He now uses that as a nice story to tell other people.. D’oh…

My sureness in myself (I know I’m repetitive..)
The fact that my boyfriend is a wonderful guy
The fact that I have great friends
The fact that I have a caring family

I don’t know really.. Maybe my family will be spending it overseas…

I gave it a 9 on the poll, but now I actually think that it should be more of a 7 or and 8 really.. There were bad moments, and those were horrible, but the great moments were mindblowingly amazing.

Hopefully so. It’s this place which I have to thank so much… For helping me with.. well… me…
