Anyone who is really alert may have noticed that Micah (Dave, as he used to be known - for those who have been around a reeeeally long time) no longer has the title of "Empty Closets Mod" under his name. I'd like to make it VERY clear that this isn't because we've fired him (LOL) - but he isn't around as much as he used to be, he now is very heavily involved in 'Minus 18' in Melbourne, plus his job as 'Sexuality Officer' at his Uni next year (see here: http://emptyclosets.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15150) means that he doesn't have as much time for EC as was once the case. Hopefully he won't be going anywhere tho' - what he is involved in now has so many parallels with what we are about at EC, that I am sure he will keep us in touch with it all (both in the open Forum and for all his old pals 'behind the scenes'). Having 'known' Micah (in an online sense) since before EC really took off, I am very excited for him - I know that he will apply the same impressive commonsense and maturity to what he does elsewhere as he has done here...and what he has done here is very considerable. He was extremely active both as a Mod and in some of the designs for the site, as well as a lot of the testing of all the Blogs etc when they first were made available to members - a whole host of things. Please join me in a big 'thank you' for all his past work - and to encourage him to keep us in touch with future projects and to keep on helping with the great advice he has always been around to offer. (*hug*) (!) (!) (*hug*)
Thanks Micah! Even if you're not a mod, still good to have you around, I think people'll always think of you as one though! You're a great guy. (*hug*) Ooh, this is my palindromic postcount...
Micah is one of the first people who made a great impression on me here at EC. I think he is an outstanding role model for you all. He's so involved in the glbt community. He's out and proud of who he is and is encouraging others to do the same. I'm sure he's going to go far in life. I'm always happy to see his posts here and hope he sticks around in spite of his busy schedule. Thank you Micah for what you have done in the past for EC and what you are doing now in Australia. You are awesome! (*hug*)
i'm new here (like 2 days) lol and have no idea who Micah is but i'm sure he is going to be missed and loved as a mod. but am still glad he's here with us!! THanks Micah for helping everyone here on EC
Micah was one of the first people I remember from EC- so I really hope that you come back from time to time! Thanks for all that you've done, and I'm glad to hear that you're helping out in the real world. We'll miss having you here as often. (*hug*)(*hug*)
Naw thanks guys ^_^ As TriBi said, I've got a lot of other GLBT organisations that need my help - and since EC is going so strong with such an active and friendly community, I figured it was time to leave it in the current moderators hands I joined EC when I was 16, and now I'm nearly 20! (Just did a quick search on my post history and this is one of the first posts that came up http://emptyclosets.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19 ) Man! How things have changed. I started off as a guy who was scared of coming out to his friends at the risk of being isolated, couldn't stand the thought of coming out to his christian parents, and was sooo desperate for a boyfriend it hurt. Now I'm out to everyone (including my parents!) and in a 6 month long relationship with my boyfriend. Mannn. I really hope Empty Closets can impact positively on everyone's life as much as it did on mine. The encouragement I receieved from all the mods and members on here was incredible. Thank you to Seth and JD for starting the site, and to Paul for dedicating so much of your time and keeping the place alive. Also a huge thanks to TriBi who was the one who kicked me off ### 3 years ago for being underage, and convincing me to join EC. Thanks guys for making EC so awesome. I'll still be around tho - so cheers.
I agree=] Micah, you've been great in all you endeavours and I think it's safe to say, even by this thread alone, we've all appreciated your input and help from the word go=] But, as they say, onwards and upwards. I hope everything is smooth sailing for you in the future and we'll be seeing ya :thewave:
So, I definitely thought this thread was going to be about something completely different (and slightly morbid)... good thing it's not. Glad you're alive Micah, keep up the good work
