Thumbing around the internet and I came across a cover of Nine Inch Nails "Head Like A Hole"by none other than......Miley Cyrus. I feel like my ears have been violated. Such a bastardization of an otherwise awesome song. Any covers of songs that you absolutely can't stand, or just don't do the original an ounce of justice?

I didn't mind that cover too much, but they did a cover of LL Cool J "Mama Said Knock You Out", and I really wish someone would've intervened and stopped them.

I didn't even know that cover existed and it shouldn't

Even out of morbid curiosity I wouldn't recommend listening to it.

My favorite band, The Beach Boys, did a bad cover of Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'". It was on the Beach Boys Party album which was designed to sound like the boys and their friends just got together, had a party, and started singing their favorite songs. In the background you can hear people laughing and basically making a mockery of such a serious song.

I've not heard that before. Doesn't sound like I'd be doing myself a service tho by checking it out either.

Actually Nine Inch Nails version IS the original version. That said, I agree Johnny Cash did it way better.

I always found it funny how many people think Johnny Cash wrote that song. Kind of like how a lot of people thought Alien Ant Farm wrote Smooth Criminal.

I honestly can not stand any of the covers 5FDP has done, to be fair I don't like most of their original stuff either.

I listened to Pearl Jam cover Pink Floyd's "Mother" before and Eddie fucked up the words a little. It bugged me because I love Pink Floyd but I let it go easier than I would others simply because Eddie is so beautiful.

I was making a joke, I'm painfully aware that Cash didn't do the original version.

You never know. Sometimes such jokes don't translate as well in text.

Disturbed's cover of Land of Confusion. At least they left Genesis' magnum opus, Supper's Ready, untouched.

Okay, the worst and one of the best cover is of the same song.

I was in a music shop when I started hearing Susan Boyle. Something felt like a spinal tap. Not the band so not a good way. No anesthetic, just pain that grew from nothing. I was trying to figure out what it was. Then it hit me like a sharp dislocation of spine, she's torturing Lou Reed's "Perfect Day". Oh. My. Gosh. Just because you have a good voice does not give you the ability to do sing anything. Wow! It's been years and I still feel it.

Yet, when double checking that it was Susan Boyle, I found a live recording of Caro Emerald doing that cover in a radio station in the Netherlands. It's amazing. I love her anyway. Maybe she can sing anything. If you get a chance, check out the original(amazing tune) then teh Caro Emerald one.

    Sincerely,

    Jacqui

How about any song used in a commercial sung by the commercial actors. Most notable of late is the Amazon commercial.
