Why the *hell* did I procrastinate for so long?

Discussion in 'Coming Out Stories' started by ProfessorLepus, Nov 5, 2010.

  1. Some of you may remember my chicken tetrazzini promise. Well I stuck to it. I woke up to the smell of chicken tetrazzini in the crockpot and spent the rest of the day playing Hemp Tycoon on Adult Swim with sweaty palms. Took a glass of wine, The Office, and a couple hours procrastinating after that to have the following conversation as they prepared for bed.

Me: Oh, before you go to bed, I want to tell you something.
    Mom: What?
    Me: I'm gay.
    Mom: Are you?
    Me: Yep.
    Mom: Okay.
Dad: (brushing his teeth in the bathroom, but listening)
Me: Yeah, Thanks for not being crazy. my brother knows too.
Mom: Hell, it's your business. How long has he known?
    Me: Couple years.
Dad: *spit* Well, I suspected since about then. Good night!

Well, there we go. I finally got to try chicken tetrazzini (needs salt) and there are fewer awkward surprises down the line. I also had to answer refreshingly few questions. A good day.

That's actually somewhat amusing. I dream of that happening to me with my mum, just having it as 'are you? Okay then' kind of situation like it has been with a few of my friends.

    BIG CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOU

When one of my friends made chicken tetrazini for the weekly get-together, we all suddenly understood why that woman was so worried about losing her man to it!

    Congrats!

  8. I expected a lot more questions. It didn't even turn into an actual discussion, the entire thing lasted maybe a minute or two. I knew that ultimately they would accept me, but I thought it might take an awkward period of time for adjustment. That's why I was procrastinating, but as I'm leaving home soon (halfway across the world, in fact), I was thinking of telling them pretty soon anyway. Really it was a relief to smell the chicken tetrazzini in the morning.

  12. Nope, but here's the recipe. We used canned cream of mushroom soup for extra trashiness.
