My aunt. I know her cause she's family. I didn't even know what gay was until then. I was eleven.

Same for me. My aunt(s) have been a major part of my life since I was born, and in many ways are more like my parents than my actual parents, but I didn't necessarily realize they were a romantic couple for a long time. I knew they went together, but it didn't add up to me that they were "together." I was 16 before I realized they weren't just roommates. Haha.

My aunt is a lesbian. I think I've known since... well, technically forever, but I don't know what age I was when I truly processed it. I think I just always knew, but I'm not sure when romance became important enough for me to care.

The first person who I've been incredibly close to that was LGBT*, would probably be my best friend, who came out to me as bisexual at the same time I came out to her (I think we were twelve).

My mum, even, dated a woman for six months. I hadn't been aware at the time, though. Mostly because I don't think she wanted me to know that she was seeing someone else after having broken up with Dad.

I have never (knowingly) met a trans person in real life. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My best friend was the first truly LGBT person I knew. But for him, it was his uncle.

It took a while. I think it was probably my bisexual drama teacher. She is so cool. There were other LGBT+ people in that class.

Oh man, let me cast my mind back...

I think it must have been one of the gay guys from the year below when I was in secondary school! I mean, I don't doubt I knew other people in the LGBT acronym, but they were the only out ones.

We didn't really hang out, but we were in various school plays together and knew of eachothers' existence, haha. I knew pretty much no gay girls when I was at school, save one 'bicurious' classmate who I was already crushing on and desperately hoped would be curious in my direction. (No such luck!)

A guy in my hometown. He volunteered to teach me how to do some computer programming as part of the gifted student program I was in in HS. He also taught myself and another senior some advanced math stuff.

I had heard rumors that he was gay (didn't really know what that was exactly), but they were confirmed when he mentioned in passing one day that he had just broken up with his BF.

Ah, the first person was my friend Nan. They came out to me as non-binary at the end of 8th grade. Now, in 9th grade, two more of my friends came out - one as non-binary and the other as lesbian. ^

I don't know any openly LGBT people. However I do know there is one guy in my year who is gay or bisexual but we aren't acquaintances, although i would love to get to know him I wouldn't even know how to introduce myself.

My best friend from high school was gay. We had met in 6th grade at lunch. I didn't really know anyone at the new school so I tried to be social and said hi to this guy who looked lonely. We were besties after that. I never knew he was gay until he came out to me in 11th grade. We kind of grew apart a few years after high school but that's life.

My mom's gay best friend since around middle school. I somewhat remember my siblings and I sending him letters when he was in prison for something.

My former... Step-uncle? He's the brother of my aunt's former husband, who unfortunately was absurdly promiscuous and eventually caught the most dreaded of STDs. So not a very good role model, really.

I honestly was never really aware of my friends,
    Or counterparts sexuality,
But I'd have to say the first person who I assumed to be openly LGBTQIPA+ was my sibling.

eh, this kid in 5th grade made out with a guy once and got detention. idk if he was gay or bi or they were dating but that had to be the first time i ever saw non-heterosexual activity lol

First person I met and conversed with who was LGBT was a guy in my english class sophomore year of high school. Literally told me he was gay within like 5 mins of meeting him. Another guy was just very obvious but he wasn't out until mid-junior year of high school.
