Here's a thread which has more theological position room than the stance of religion. Rest of options is optional. Forgot to add pantheist.
Finally, a religious thread that allows me not to choose an in between. I believe in God, I have a church (don't attend because of distance reasons), but I'm not certain, I don't think of an afterlife as a certainty (in fact, I bank on there being none for me), and I consider my religion a compilation of the same morals as a non-theist can have. Oh, and this, like all other related threads, is likely to degrade into bashing religion, not understanding exactly what it involves, and vice-versa.
Thank you. Although I tend to prefer "theological non-cognitivist," ignostic works. Oh shoot I didn't realize you could pick multiples. Oh well.
I ended up picking materialistic, atheist, and irreligious. I have not have an experience, nor have I heard a credible story of someone else having an experience, which would lead me to think that there is anything which exists or has occurred as the result of a physical process. I have had joyous, transcendent experiences, especially while running or hiking, but while I might use the imprecise language "spiritual" to describe those experiences to others, I still attribute them to physical processes. I'm an atheist because I don't see how there is room for any divine being that suspends the physical laws of the universe. As far as I know, they have never been suspended before, nor will they ever be. I'm irreligious, only in the sense that I don't require social support for my atheism... One quick point I want to mention is that I still have a moral view, and I believe there are moral facts about the universe in exactly the same way as there are mathematical facts.
Update on poll, bottom apatheist is to be replaced with pantheist. Just adding this. Now if only a mod can edit the poll to make that change.
Agnostic Atheist I don't believe in any gods, nor do I think there is anything to suggest there is one, but I don't know for 100% certainty nor does anyone. There is much about the Universe we have yet to discover. I do not believe there is an afterlife though.
This is how I am as well. I don't believe that there is a god or an afterlife. Ack.. I forgot to choose materialism and irreligious...
I'm an Agnostic Atheist, of course there's no afterlife, that invetion comes from human coping/fear with/of death, and I could go on about how the Abrahmaic God is not possible, but I do have some Pagan revrences mainly with the Celtic gods, I don't do it religiously; it's more of an aesthetic thing. And I'm agnostic because I can never know. However I can say for a fact that all religions are inspired by the cosmos/nature/universe, (I have supporting facts, but I don't wanna get in an argument) making them worshiping the cosmos, making the cosmos god, because it is by just being so; but that's just non-palpable philosophy that I adore > ---------- Post added 6th Jun 2013 at 11:25 PM ----------
