What is your country of origin?

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by SriManayaDasan, Sep 1, 2012.

  1. Regardless of which country you live in, do you know what your national heritage is?

Italian? French? Lithuanian? Estonian? Native American?

I have no idea what I am, as I'm adopted. lol. Although I wonder if there is anyway to actually find out? Like a blood test?

I am from and live in Croatia.

Can't you get some information through official channels? There must be some paperwork regarding your adoption process.

  3. Wow, Croatia? Quite a beautiful country.

And no, I did look at my adoption papers and I found nothing significant.

I'm adopted from Russia. Apparently I have an accent because of it

I'm Dutch and English. Born and raised in Canada, though.

EDIT: So, I guess I should say my countries of origin are the Netherlands and England.

You see...I was born in America. Just like my parents and grandparents. But my origins...I guess it kind of makes me the most Caucasian looking mutt puppy you've ever seen.

Dutch, German, Irish, Scottish, French, Cherokee, all kinds of other shit. The list is pretty long but those are the big ones. I guess family never was a 'keep it pure' kind of family. Hahaha.

So...Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, France, United States of America, blahblah blah.

It's funny, this question probably doesn't make any sense to people who aren't from old colonies. To those of us from the Americas and Australia, if we're not First Nations we're always from somewhere else.

My grandpa's from Argentina, but I think that his family mostly came from Italy originally...So I guess I'm basically 1/2 English, 1/4 Norwegian, 1/4 Italian. There's a lot of other stuff mixed in there too, but those are the big ones.

I'm American, and we can barely trace my family lines outside of Texas, which sometimes likes to think of itself as a nation within a nation given its distinct history. Based off the surnames in the family tree, I'm a Euro-mutt except for my great-great-grandmother who was Native American. If it's a nation in Northern, Central, or Western Europe, chances are I have it in me, though the British Isles show the most features.

I'm apparently a quarter Polish, quarter Norweigan, and half everything else in Europe.

So basically a mutt like the majority of people in America :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

mostly i'm german and scottish, but i have some italian and irish in me too. (the italian comes through blatantly with my hair haha) my great grandpa on my dad's side was born and raised in scottland, then traveled around as a missionary. my grandpa was actually born in africa XD. so on my dad's dad's side i am only the 2nd generation to be born in america...which is pretty cool to think about. i love my scottish heritage (even if i'm slightly more german lol) and my name i'm switching to is scottish.

I classify my heritage as American as my ancestors have been born in the US for at least 170 years.

I had an uncle who did a much of genealogy research. He never did find when our family came to the US. Though based on surnames we are pretty sure it was from somewhere in the British Isles.

Past two generations are fully Canadian, but past countries where my ancestors have lived are England, Scotland, Germany, Norway, France, and Ireland.
