Love is a compelling desire to submit to someone... Completely, unconditionally.

Unconditional attachment to someone, no building them up in your head, recognizing their flaws but accepting them anyway (this obviously excludes terrible flaws like abuse).

I believe you can be in love without having dated the person (but it requires REALLY knowing them, like a close friend/family), and you can be in a relationship with someone while only just being infatuated.

Hi, for me love is love. Love is when you feel connection so strong and chemistry in all things in life with someone. Chemistry in your body and soul, attitude, and you care to him/her. You feel happy with him/her eventhought you suffering. You always remember him/her when everything you do, respect to him/her, you feel what s/he feels, dedication and you have dream with him/her in the future. Love unconditionally! You always give to him/her without you expect anything.
I have experience how I really love to someone. I really afraid lost him, so when I weak up in the morning without him, I feel a very deep empty in my heart, weak, sad, and hopeless.
I want hugh him and smell his body, see his face deeply and I have dream to grow old together until I die.
I don’t know, will my dream come true or not?
    That is love I feel

Poets have been trying to capture words to define "love" for ages so my definition probably isn't going to give you much more information than is already out there....

From the first moment I saw him...I knew that I wanted him. There simply was no one else...
That's how I knew he was the one, that's how I knew I was in love with him...because for the first time I'd simply stopped looking.
Before him, even when I believed I was happy, somewhere in the back of my mind there was that "seeking" urge. The need to search for that perfect something, someone. Not consciously, it wasn't something I was even aware of, until that moment when I realized, I was finally, for the very first time...content. Absolutely and entirely content because he was a part of my life. Because he was -mine-

He's all that I want, everything I need.
And has been for the last nine years.

Thanks for the answers! It's definitely given me some perspective.

Is love something that can develop over time or is it supposed to be something that you feel the first time you meet someone?

There aren't really any "supposed to"s in love. It's different every time and for every one...there just aren't any wrong answers, yeah?

Love is a feeling that make you very happy or very sad and can drive you crazy if you can't forget that person but that never have happened to me.

A chemical reaction inside the brain.

How I know? Once the [chemical reaction that takes place in the first six weeks or so that causes elation and obsession with the person] dies down, if I still like the person as an individual - both appearance and personality - then that's how I know I'm in love.
