I wish my job would get their shit together. I want to work here full time but they seem to be trying to eliminate my position (English teacher and librarian), despite the principal and assistant principal telling us otherwise. They're waiting to see what the numbers look like with scheduling and that won't be done until 5/16. Even if they open the position on the 18th (which I doubt), and assuming I wouldn't be allowed to apply internally, it would probably be late June/early July until they made a decision on the position...meanwhile I'll be applying elsewhere.

Meanwhile I had an interview on Thursday and another tomorrow (same district, different grades) and I can't even get excited that this great school district is offering me interviews because I would drop everything tomorrow if my principal called and offered for me to stay at my job next school year. What's even more frustrating is these positions want to make decisions by next week and they just...don't excite me. Because I'm already where I want to be.

(Although part of me still really wants to move closer to Philly.)

Doing some serious mental gymnastics to see how the hell I can quit my job without jeopardizing my financial stability. This is the worst time to be thinking of resigning, but I don't think I can tough it out much longer when the current situation is making me this unhappy. This is simply not what I signed up for, I feel like my job description is just getting longer and longer based on whatever the fuck the company needs a the moment due to the pandemic; and while those changes may be here to stay for the long term what I won't be seeing any time soon (for obvious reasons) is an increase in compensation. So I'm doing things I don't want to do, that I never applied for when I took this position, while being underpaid and also under a lot of scrutiny because the executives have nothing better to do since the vast majority of the workforce can't work.

I wish I could just swallow it up and simply go through the motions, but that doesn't cut it in a creative field. You make up the motions every day you go to work. There is no set pattern or routine to fall back on, you have to get inspired and come up with new solutions and ideas outside the box and that simply doesn't happen if you have no drive for what you are doing. I can't get creative for something I don't believe in, much less resent. I honestly feel like I have no choice but to quit, so now I guess I'm just thinking of the best way of going about it given the current circumstances. I'll give myself until Friday to figure that one out.

I had to look up what that meant. Thanks for the new turn of phrase.

Today has been so overwhelming. Think I'm gonna sink into a hot bath and just process.

I had somebody at the store try to steal toilet paper out of my cart today while at the store. I'm glad I don't have to go to the store for a while again.

Bruh, same. I mean, I'm 23 but. I always see these posts like, "Every gay glows up after high school." But it's always guys who were already good looking...who now just look even more good looking.

...and now I have super unrealistic body expectations for myself...

At least you guys get recognized as adults. People think I'm good looking but they also think I'm like 16. Being mistaken for 16 at almost 24 freaking sucks. Every single time I go anywhere that checks ID's I get carded, and half the time they accuse me of having a fake ID. My real ID has been confiscated more than 5 times because they were convinced it was just a really awesome fake.

People are backing the fuck off at work and if they keep it up I might be able to hold it together for a little longer. At least long enough to have more solid ground to fall back on once I leave. Well, that's the hope at least. For now I'll enjoy being able to breathe again.

Several of my coworkers thought I was a teenager when they first met me. Many were surprised when I told them I'm in my 20s. It does get on my nerves, but I also embrace it because it means I might look younger longer, so by the time I reach middle age, maybe I'll still look younger.

For some reason, I've noticed that I have a huge mental block against dating anyone younger than me, even by a day. I don't know why but I feel like I have to be the youngest in a relationship (granted, not chasing after guys more than a few years older). Is this odd?

Working from home is working out better than I thought it would. One side effect of it: my coffee intake has gone up, way up.

At first it was the monotony of working from home and being stuck in the house all the time. I started feeling depressed, having bad anxiety, not sleeping well, and having nightmares when I did get to sleep. I went to a therapist today through my company’s EAP and we started talking about some other things and he told me straight up “You have got to deal with your past trauma or it’s going to continue to rule and ruin your life.” So we’re going to start EDMR next week.

I'm glad you sought help and are speaking with a therapist to work on the trauma you have experienced. (*hug*)

I don't think it's that odd. I mean, I'm willing to date and mess with guys that are younger than me by a year or two or three, but yeah the further the gap, the weirder I find it. I mean, I just matched with a guy on an app who's 19 and I have zero desire to actually hit him up because dude clearly went to my high school and only graduated last year or two years ago.

I'd recommend being open to at least somewhat of a gap, though...or trying to be open to it. Even just being in the same school year.
