It also means that instead of being able to donate with their knowledge of there being potential risk factors, I have to outright lie. Even though I know my HIV status and the overall quality of my blood because I am conscious of my health, that's still not ideal from their perspective, and I know quite a few gay males my age and a little older who do lie on a regular basis so that they can give blood.

The thing I don't understand about this issue is, wouldn't it be easier to check for HIV in a potential donor, rather than checking their sexual history for a whole year?

That would make more sense, if they were only concerned about the health factors. Sadly, this isn't about that, this is about punishing you for not being straight.

The argument holds that if a donor contracts HIV and donates blood, the capacity of detection could be low in the first few months of infection. This is a relatively legitimate argument.

But it's also a legitimate argument for banning all donors from having casual sex, preventing prisoners or anyone with a record of intravenous drug use from donating and forbidding donations from those who do not regularly go to their doctor and/or health clinics.

And the worst part is that it's surprisingly easy to lie, anyway, especially if you're young and have no record of any relationships.

Also, very unsubtly pointing out that the chatroom's dead. :rolle:

Just finished revisiting one of my very favorite films for Halloween, about the furthest I'll go to celebrate the holiday (Haha,) and wondering why my reaction still lacks the... excitement I used to feel toward it.

Don't know whether I simply watched it too many times in the past or if my general, muted enthusiasm for things is impacting how I experience everything. There's nothing I like less about it, but wish I felt more passionate or eager while seeing it again. :icon_sad:

    That party ended early.

People can't act right when they drink. Good thing my cop sense is on point, because I was already gone when they came, or else I'd probably be in the backseat. I'm not going to jail just because somebody, while drunk, misinterpreted a situation and called the police...

Just waiting for the newspaper. I'm sure about 10 people went to jail, because they had hard drugs on them. And, from my knowledge, there was about 7 high school girls there, all drunk. That isn't going to fly over well.

What makes this all amusing is, the one who made the call was severely intoxicated and, probably, had drugs on them. If I see their name in the paper this Monday, I may laugh, because they did this to themselves.

Unfortunately, I had to cut my activities short. Which kind of sucks, because the strippers there kept offering me free lap dances, because I was a virgin. Like, their dancing on me would, suddenly, I wouldn't be a virgin anymore.

Whatever their logic, I was reminded of how wonderful a woman's body feels... so, it's kind of a win-win? I may have to milk this virgin-thing...

But at least I ain't in jail, LOL.

trying to figure out where my head is right now. I hate it when I'm left alone with my thoughts and haven't had much sleep. I figure things out eventually, just wish my brain would stop running so I can get some rest.

I'm watching The Human Centipede. I think I've finally met my match in horror movies. It's got all the things I'm deeply afraid and repulsed by, including hospitals and surgery. Ugh... I'm really glad I'm not eating anything right now because this movie is needlessly gross.

I can handle everything the horror genre can throw at me except body horror. I can force myself to sit through it, but I wouldn't really call that "handling it."Hell, it doesn't even have to be framed as horrific as possible, anything involving piercing bodies with surgical intent or altering the body's chemistry makes me feel ill. I'm very, very grateful that there are so many people who derive genuine satisfaction from practicing medicine, because I would be having the worst time of my life if I were in their shoes.

Australia. Please take Ken Ham back. Because I'm very tempted to go out to Kentucky or wherever the hell he lives now and hit him with a truck. He's so stupid.

On second thought, don't. Let's just drop him on the moon, because nobody deserves to be stuck on the same continent with that guy and Australia has done nothing heinous enough to deserve that, either.
