I like to look at it this way: I certainly don’t remember what it was like to exist before I was born, so why would I know what it’s like after I die? That sort of removes the fear for me. I won’t know what it’s like to not exits because the very I that can perceive is gone!

Spiders. I am terrified of them. I even skip the chapter in the second Harry Potter book with the giant spiders. I have had dreams about those spiders eating me. It hurt. There is only one species of spider in Ireland that bites. I’m not scared of being bitten, they just look terrifying and if there is a spider in a room I guarantee I’ll find it. I had to temporarily swap bedrooms with my sister because there was a spider that kept hiding behind my desk. I think I made her scared of them in the end.
I’m scared of the dark. I sleep with the light on. I’m almost 30 so it’s not going to change. I freak out if I hear a noise at night and I’m always scared someone is going to break in and I actually look under my bed and in my wardrobe to make sure no one is there. I won’t go outside my house at night alone because I’m scared someone is out there. We live in the countryside so there’s no street lamps.
I’m scared of Ferris wheels but if you have a ride that will spin me around and upside down I’d love to try it. I think it’s the fact the wheel moves so slowly, there’s no restraints and the little doors open inwards even at the top. The swaying in the wind doesn’t help.
I’m scared of the future when my disability gets to the point where I can no longer independently move. How can I make sure I’m not stuck in a dark room with a spider if all I’ll have left is my voice. I’d rather be dead.

Yup. There are plenty of things, like the dark etc, I'm not too keen, but somehow are a lot less scary and daunting than I find most social interactions aha. I feel ya girl :/

Interesting question. I can stand in front of an auditorium of people and speak without any great fear, but I become very tense if I have to speak to just one person who has a spikey or aggressive demeanour. Taken at face value, it's totally irrational* because I'm more than capable of holding my own when pushed... but I'd really rather not go there.

    * it's actually not irrational when I consider my past. Most of our fears come from somewhere!

I can totally identify with this. I'm okay when I am able to anticipate and mentally prepare, but I hate to be put on the spot like that. It goes beyond embarrassment actually and leaves me feeling humiliated and extremely angry.

When I saw the topic title, bees were my first thought!
Imagine you're like, 12 years old, cutting construction paper or something in art class, THEN all of a sudden there's a sound like someone revved a chainsaw right next to your head. A bee had flown into my ear, and I freaked out, which made IT freak out, and I got stung. I was mildly allergic so it inflamed and caused a lot of pain. I had to go home for the rest of the day, which made it even more of a spectacle so I was embarrassed in addition to being scared and physically injured.

And that is how life-long phobias are formed. :grinning:

I hate wasps, yellow jackets, hornets; basically anything that stings (with maybe bees as an exception). I just had a dream last night where I was outside with a bunch of people and a wasp landed on my back and wouldn't get off, and I was panicking the whole time. Yeah, absolutely hate them.

That’s so strange, a bee stung me on the ear as a child too! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: You might be on to something here!

In my case I didn’t even get a chance to freak out, I was innocently walking in the playground when a bee accidentally flew into my ear and immediately stung me! So rude.
